How to Say Babylon by Safiya Sinclair

Good, a very moving and effective tale. There was a lot of time spend on the way her father was cruel and abusive and less on his softer and lovable parts, so when she forgives him it felt rushed, as if she did it so she could tie it up in a bow for us. Or maybe to soften the blow because her father will read it. If we'd seen the ways he was kind maybe I wouldve seen why he's deserving of eventual forgiveness. I cannot imagine

your father threatening to kill you with a machete and then hearing "forgive him" . Horrible.

I don't think she shouldn't forgive obviously, this is her life! But I wish I could see the way she sees him at the end because I couldn't. There wasnt enough time spent on it.
