So I have read a few reviews before writing mine because I wanted to see how many were one sided so I will try to provide both positives and negatives because a lot of reviews seem to be favouring in one direction or the other.

One thing I was slightly disappointed in was the heroine seemed to be all too similar to Taryn from Feral Sins. She was sarcastic, immature at times, and had a problem with her wolf (although their problems were obviously different the story arch felt the same - 2 wolves like each other but won’t admit it, one then gets jealous, they get together with ‘no strings attached’, find out they are true mates after all, heroine manages to help balance out her mate and then the heroine overcomes her wolf’s issues), so yes it does feel slightly repetitive from the first book however I’ve seen a lot of people saying she doesn’t compare to Taryn and honestly guys she would never be able to compare to Taryn because she is BETA female and NOT Alpha female so she won’t be as feisty or strong as Taryn or she would be mated to an Alpha not a Beta so I totally understand the authors decisions when it came to her development and characteristics. Yes she responds to Greta the same as Taryn but that’s mentioned in the first book - this is the only way to deal with Greta is to quip back and stand up for yourself so yes she feels sooooooo much like Taryn and people have said this is their main issue with how she acts with Greta but all of the dominant females need to act like this to deal with her.

It was nice to see such a huge change in a male character!! Usually character development is focused on the heroine, which, yes she does evolve and change but because we know Dante from book 1 it’s great seeing how he can change and his change also opens up (in my eyes) more storylines for the other enforcers.

The sex scenes were just as hot as they were in the first book (she seems to have a recurring theme that the males really need anal at some point in the book!) my only isssue is I feel there wasn’t as much sex as there could have been or as much as there was in book 1. Maybe the author wanted to focus more on the characters and storyline this time rather than all the sex but I’d say the more sex scenes the better.

I picked up on a lot of the ‘plot twists’ and red herrings before they were revealed (Laurie wayyyyyy back the minute she turned up at the party and Glory from mid way in the book) I’m not sure if the author made it to easy to guess their intentions or if I just pickup on these things easily but I’d really like the author to throw a whopper of a shocker into this series as I don’t feel like something shocking has happened, so far it seems everyone gets what they deserve. I’d love a good death of a nice character or something.

Hoping that book 3 will be different because the premise seems different - an alpha who doesn’t want a submissive mate unlike the first 2 books focused around dominant females with wolf issues (that we know of).

I enjoyed we still got to see more of Taryn and Trey’s story and it opens up a storyline for their baby too. I am glad the author didn’t solely focus on Jamie and Dante but I’d of loved to see some more moment with the characters from the first book but I understand that this is Jamie and Dante’s story not Taryn and Trey’s.

Overall yes it feels similar but it also is very different from book 1 - It hasn’t put me off reading the rest of the series either. Hopefully there will be some BIG differences in the next few books otherwise it will feel like it is the same story on repeat but I’m holding out hope. Knocked a star off because of the similar feelings surrounding the plot but otherwise a great book and can’t wait for book 3!!

So I’ll start by saying this was NOT the best book of the series so far, however I totally understand WHY it couldn’t be written the same as the previous 2 books… because Shaya is, in general, a submissive wolf. Yes you come to see she isn’t JUST a submissive wolf but you can’t have a submissive act the same as the Alpha and Beta females of the Phoenix Pack because then it would be ANOTHER rehash of book 1 (which many people complained about book 2 being too similar to book 1 and now they moan this one isn’t enough… give the author a break!)

There was not as much in-dept sexual exploits in this one as the previous 2 books and I put that down to the author needing to focus on the story about the game preserve and about Nicks past and showing exactly why we shouldn’t have hated him in book 3 for refusing to interact with Shaya. I feel sorry for Nick, after finding out about his past and his reasoning behind not claiming Shaya it really made me change my mind and found myself liking Nick more than Shaya. I found her to be a bit childish especially when she try’s to make Nick jealous by going on a date with a human but I kind of understand her way of thinking (in a twisted and weird kind of way) that she wanted to make sure the worst thing that could happen (her being with another man) wouldn’t make him leave.

I loved the story line around Logan (human extremist) and the local Pack I’m Arizona but I feel like the book only really came alive in the second part where there was some action and fighting between the extremists and the Phoenix Pack (and some allies). The relationship between Shaya and Nick felt like it drug on but I can why it had to, it make me sympathise more with Nick. Once the Phoenix Pack arrive then stuff gets going and I was so disappointed not seeing them for a lot of this book but luckily Darren and Kent were brought in, as well as Nick’s Mother, Sister Roni (who I believe is the heroine of the next book in the series) and his old pack healer Amber. I picked up on Amber straight away and noticed that her ‘healing’ Nick didn’t seem to be working and I had a feeling Taryn would be able to help and I worked out Ambers angle as soon as she confronted Shaya in the kitchen.

The owner of the Game preserve was supposed to have an aura of mystery but I worked it out pretty quickly seen as a lot of info was based around nicks time in juvie.

I’m disappointed we didn’t see how the Arizona pack dealt with things but then again the main protagonists went to the Phoenix Pack so there was no need to show their side I guess.

I feel like a lot sex scenes were just skipped over, e.g. “after he took her….” So I agree with the other reviews that this one wasn’t as ‘hot’ as the others but I think the book may have been too long if the author chose to include many more sex scenes.
I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the butt plug stuff but anyone into Dom/Sub relationships know that Nick is treating her with the upmost respect by asking her to stretch if for him so it doesn’t hurt her (even if she is made to take him in every hole she has perfectly) and sometimes some people will ask their partners to keep butt plugs/vibrators etc In around other people as it is a kink.

All in all it was a good book but not as good as the first 2 but hopefully now we are back at the Phoenix Pack with a bunch of flirty, macho males around we will see hotter (and more) sex scenes and still have a decent story line to boot.

You need to read this book I feel in order to continue with the story but it could feel slow to some readers who are reading more for the fiery sex scenes and a lot of action.

I am so happy to say that this has put me back on track for this series! I was so worried this series was going to go downhill after reading Carnal Secrets bud I am glad to say I was pleasantly surprised at how the author has come back from the last book.

I’ll start by saying - I BLOODY LOVE RONI

I will elaborate. I was worried that after Feral Sins and Wicked Cravings that the author was only capable of writing one style of dominant female characters because Taryn and Jamie were both so similar, however I am so glad to say Roni was portrayed brilliantly and you still understood she was a dominant female but she has her own quirks and personality that is vastly different from Taryn and Jamie. It was great to finally understand more about her past as well and seeing her overcome it and her fears.

I loved seeing more of Marcus and finally understanding his family and his childhood (damn he got messed up by his parents relationship and I feel so sorry for him). We got to meet his Sisters and also see underneath his flirty front which I loved as I didn’t expect some of the feelings etc to be there as he has been portrayed in earlier books as a flirt who is perceptive.

I wish we has seen more of his and Trick’s relationship as this was very much glossed over during a chat with Roni but I would love to know the feelings behind those encounters etc.

I loved how we saw a mix of both the Phoenix Pack and the Mercury Pack come together once again, it meant we didn’t lose track of our favourite characters from previous books. The only problem I am having with this series is when you read the books you are constantly being told information that you already know (constantly reminding us about trey and Taryn getting together, Nick not claiming Shaya at the start etc) and it really pulls me out of the book because I already know this information. Unless they are stating these things to new characters/previously unaware characters I can understand but when it’s just another explanation for the reader I don’t quite understand why she has done this? It is possible that she is writing these so you could read them as stand alone stories but we know it’s a series so surely we would remember what has happened previously? I suppose this is personal preference on the style of writing that I like but I can look past it as the story and characters are enough for me.

We don’t meet many more important new characters that stick around for one reason or the other unlike in all the other (feral sins we know pack members moved e.g. Jamie and meet Nick’s pack then in wicked cravings we meet other people, then in Carnal secrets we meet Roni and the Axtons who obviously are clearly needed for this current book. So I am interested to see who mates with Ryan (next book) as I don’t see any new characters who could be the love interest in the next book.

I’d like to see a same sex couple as the main characters Of one of the books (yes we have Kent and Caleb but they are a very small side story and not focused on) also I am getting tired of the main characters all having the same issue, they don’t want to find their mate or don’t mind imprinting only to figure out that TA DA!! The person they fancy is actually their true mate. Let’s have one where they imprint and then it causes problems like they have mentioned could possibly happen in all 4 books!

The story is well written, the sex scenes are hot and the storyline keeps you gripped (even though I figured out one or 2 plot twists way in advance). Still my favourite shifter/werewolf shifter series I have ever ridden as this one isn’t written for teens and is very x rated. Looking for ward to seeing Ryan’s story in the next book as he is a total mystery to me and we know very little about him.

I can’t fault this book so 5/5 for me purely because it has brought me back into the series after a wobble in book 3 Carnal Secrets

I really, really, REALLY enjoyed this instalment of The Phoenix Pack series!
In previous books Ryan mostly grunts, we know very little to nothing about him or why he doesn’t communicate with people socially so I was worried how she was going to write him as a main character but I’m glad to say I loved diving deeper into Ryan and his past.

I appreciated that Ryan knew pretty much instantly that he was True Mates with McKenna as this was one of my issues surrounding the previous books that they all seemed to only figure out they are true mates after claiming each other or after people mention the possibility but not with Ryan and I think this is because he is very typically shown as being someone who is factual and sees things in a very logical way so when he sees the typical signs (that we have seen in previous books between the main characters). This is such a nice refreshing change from having to point it out to the main characters.

McKenna on the other hand doesn’t want to feel the mate bond but she thinks it’s imprinting and she is worried Ryan won’t want to do this because of his terrible upbringing and his parents not being true mates (this is the closest we have seen into an imprinting relationship but obviously it’s not the main characters). It was nice to be able to see a different side to the loner lifestyle because twice we have seen loner wolves being a killer for hire or turning rogue so this was nice to see how hard loner life can be.

We are introduced to some other shifter species too and they are all currently at the Phoenix Pack house (or have sadly died!) making for a nice way to continue the story and introduce us to new shifters. Also interesting is the addition of Darren’s mate Ally, we don’t know how they met etc but I believe this is a book in a series that has been written for the Mercury Pack so while I’m not as enthusiastic about that pack I can’t wait to see Darren’s story as I liked him in carnal secrets (it was about the only thing I liked).

All in all I absolutely loved learning about Ryan and why he is the way he is as this has kept me wondering throughout all the books. I love there are more kids in the pack too so maybe we can see more of how kye interacts with children as he is always around the adults.

The sex scenes are great once again and Ryan is quite chatty in the bedroom (it’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for haha). Hopefully the next book will be just as good.

Few points I didn’t like, again are mainly based on the writing style and choices made, I don’t like how they author constantly reminds us why or how couples got together but I can see why she does it if you’re reading it as a stand alone book but because it’s a series I don’t know why she feels the need to do this. Again personal preference for me so I can’t really knock a star off for my person opinion on a writing style

There is so much to unwrap here so I’ll try to break it down into bite size chunks!

Teo - I went off Tea a little bit in book 1 mainly because of the whole wanting to imprint on Taryn and then totally ignoring her after her and Trey mated (dick move) so I wasn’t sure how this book would go. In the last book we saw him absolutely hate Riley because she is an outsider and I understand he pretty much hates all outsiders but I didn’t like his attitude at the end of the last book. Add that to how he was in book 1 I really really wasn’t sure if I could like him again but I came around to him and warmed up to him throughout this book.

Riley - Riley is my kinda girl! She is sassy and fun loving, loves the kids and is super protective of them and still a dominant female. She has issues and likes to retreat and be alone but then she dwells on things and runs scenarios through her mind until she works herself up and this is something I can totally relate to so I loved Riley from minute one of the last book.

I really enjoyed seeing the differences between the Pack and the Flock. Like they don’t really eat indoors much and only eat other as a flock once every 2 weeks whereas the pack are always eating together and bonding. Seeing Riley’s past made me want to wrap her up in cotton wool and never let her go. Her past was filled with so much trauma and going back home for a visit made so many issues arise.

There are 2 threats at once during this story which I kind of liked, it made you think one thing was happening when really it was another. I decided straight away who the shooter was and knew it had to be Shirley because what mother wouldn’t be devastated her sweet son would shoot all those people. She wanted to blame someone to remember her son as the loveable kid not a murderer. Twisted in the head already because of that but I was NOT expecting to hear about her true mate etc. I’m happy Teo found someone but Riley was my main focus in this not Teo unfortunately.

Fighting against humans at the same time I was sure we would see kidnapped and Trey go feral but that didn’t happen although the humans did re appear at the end which I didn’t think they would because I thought she would have just written them to stop going after Taryn.

This book in the series jumps right into the dirty stuff and there is no dancing around seeing that one wants the other but won’t admit it like the other books I’m the series. I like how this was a different formula to the other books but I would have liked to see more of Riley settling in and just exactly how Teo warmed up to her. I loved how finally there was an inter-species true mate couple as I wasn’t sure if the author would ever write this into the series. I loved max and Ethan and really want them to love in with the Phoenix Pack because I want to see more of them but they may make an appearance for Riley. I felt a lot was left out of this book where we could have seen more ‘normal’ days but everything seemed to go straight into the action no matter where they went.

I LOVE the kids and their little quirks. Savannah is so sassy and Dexter is adorable with his little food hiding habit. I am glad Riley is now the official Guardian because we hopefully will see more of the kids growing up.

I couldn’t give it 5 stars because I felt there was a lot of things missing from this story but it was still good so a solid 4. Can’t wait for Tricks book and I’m hoping he gets a boyfriend so we can see a same sex couple but I don’t think the author really wants to write the sex scenes between them so I can only hope but not holding my breath.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. When we first meet Derren it’s way back in Carnal Secrets and I didn’t quite understand him at first and you don’t really see much into his background other than he met Nick in juvie and he feels like he owes Nick his life. When we start to see more of how Derren functions when he is talking to Shaya I became invested in him but knew we wouldn’t see him and his story in the Phoenix Pack series so I was so happy when I found the Mercury series.

I feel it’s important to state that I read the whole of the Phoenix Pack series FIRST then moved onto this series HOWEVER if I had known that the story where would be placed after Marcus and Roni’s book I would have read this before moving onto Ryan and Makenna’s book as it KIND OF follows on from Marcus and Roni - I wish there was a list for reading in chronological order but next time I re read all these books I’ll read them in chronological order rather than as one series then the next.

I absolutely LOVE Ally she’s like a great mix of Taryn and Roni and I love that mix. There are 2 threats in this book, although one is kind of obvious which is the threat against Ally, the threat to the Mercury and Phoenix packs didn’t dawn on me at first because it would normally follow on from Marcus and Roni and that explains that threat. Having to throw myself back in time and as if I haven’t read the other 4 Phoenix pack series was annoying but my own fault for not realising sooner. I tried to imagine it like when we get 2 to shows that do a few cross over episodes so we have seen before and after but now we understand the middle.

I really want more of Cain and Ally’s uncles but not sure if this is going to be something that happens.

The books kind of follows the same plot as the Phoenix Pack series which although a bit repetitive is fine with me because I really like this storyline and the way SW tells her stories.

Great sex scenes as I have come to expect from the author and it was great to include the Phoenix pack as much as possible even though I’ve finished their story.

Not quite a 5 star for me as it did feel like the same plot re written over and over again but I do like this format so can’t hold too much of a grudge against the Author as she is writing what works for her and sells.

We finally got another imprinting story and we didn’t have to wait until the end of the god damn series to see it. I’ll say this though, I REALLY want to see an imprinting story where the true mate comes along and then we have to see the struggle between the imprinted couple and the actual true mate (not like Dominic and Mila in the Phoenix Pack series but you’ll need to read that one to see what I mean).

another issue like the last one; I read this after reading the Phoenix Pack series and it is set in between the books in that series so I have had to try and forget what I know happens in the future. On my next read I’ll read them all in chronological order rather than series by series.

Damn Jesse knows what he wants and he isn’t afraid to go for it. This follows a similar story arch to all the others but obviously with the difference that Jesse now wants a dominant female and not a submissive like he was fated too when he was a child. I bloody love Harley (in fact I’ve loved her since I met her briefly in the Phoenix Pack series), the girl is smart, funny and talented on the electric violin!

It’s nice to once again see the Phoenix wolves a little bit and see Cain again for a short time. I’m liking the mercury pack more and more as I read the series. Cassidy is a hella smart little pup and he makes my heart melt because she’s so adorable and a young seer who doesn’t quite know how to express her visions so seeing her try is adorable. Also at the end when she uses her healing gift just made me want my own little Cassidy in my life.

Great sex scenes once again (yes there is some butt plug talk and I know loads of people got annoyed in Carnal Secrets because of this but it’s exactly what you should do for first time Anal play so don’t go after the author for this.

Again we see a dominant male in Jesse and the pack have to overcome an obstacle or two to win. I feel like the end of the threat was over too quickly but I understand the need to wrap it up quickly. I’d of like to have seen more harsh punishments for Kim but maybe we will see her again in Brackens book… who knows.

I’m all for a surprise and stuff but I do love the formula SW follows so I won’t complain. If you don’t like repetition in the story telling then that’s up to you but SW manages to keep things interesting even though she follows similar patterns of story telling. Well written and a thoroughly deserved 4 stars.

I am so happy that we finally got a human heroine! Because we have only ever seen shifters and mainly ‘bad’ humans (extremists) in both series so i was eager to see how SW would handle a human this time and I honestly believe she did this incredibly well. I felt like I could connect with Gwen because in her situation I would do the same thing. It was nice being able to bring back some of the Phoenix Pack because of the shelter situation but this book probably has the least we have seen of the Phoenix pack in one book.

Writing a human true mate was something I have been waiting for for a while so I was incredibly happy. Mixing her issue with shifters and with Zanders own issues with Rory (god that guy is a prick) made for a great read and I couldn’t put it down. Add in the spooky b&b and I was hooked. I’m not sure why I don’t feel like I can give this 5 stars and not 4 but something felt missing but I don’t know what this is. Maybe a re read in chronological order will help me decide.

Seeing more of Bracken has really set me up for his book and I’m excited for that.

I truly love the Phoenix and murcury packs and I’m excited to see everyone mate up. I still am waiting for an imprinting and a true mate to come along and try and wreck it.

Well I am totally turned around on Valiant! In the last book I had started to come around to him a little because of Trisha and his relationship but this book showed a totally different side to Valiant. I thought he was going to just be a human hating asshole and who was more animal than man but good god we got to see a totally different and vulnerable side to him.

I loved Tammy as well The poor thing has it pretty rough in this book but she survives and is kickass and I have a lot of respect for her.

This was a little different to the last 2 books because Ellie and Trisha both worked at Homeland before getting together with their mate so they understood the New Species better whereas Tammy only knows about the parts that have been on TV so she is in a totally different world and it is interesting to see how she adapts to living with the New Species.

I felt like some parts were rushed like her falling For Valiant but I get that it needed to happen and there was a 5 week gap where we jump to so we don’t realise we actually skip a large period of time.

We finally get to see the conclusion of Trisha and Slades baby and I hope we see even more of him in Justice’s book. I liked meeting the Agent at the end too she will be a good match for Justice in his book.

I hope we see more of 927 and possibly Breeze mating. I really like 927 and now he is free we can see his story. Interesting facts come out during this about the breeding testing but Tammy doesn’t seem to have mentioned the findings to anyone at Reservation that we have seen so far about males sperm being stronger when aroused but the sperm dies within a minute and that their females don’t produce viable eggs which makes sense why no females have gotten pregnant so far and it has only happened for the human females.

I thought it was adorable when Valiant didn’t know about condoms bless him and it makes you realise what humans take for granted. I love the little every day sayings that they don’t quite understand and have to have them explained to them by the humans.

I hope we see more of Tammy and hopefully she will have a role in the Reservation in the future.
