Brawn by Laurann Dohner
4.0
Well considering we didn’t know much about Brawn from the last book I was totally surprised by how much I liked him. I totally loved Becca too although some people said in reviews they didn’t like her I totally understood her feelings and her emotional state.
Communication was a bog issue between them which is what caused a lot of the issues.
I thought Brawn was going to have a much harder time in the cage when he woke up but he seemed to be more worried about Becca which I thought was adorable.
I felt like I’d gotten through loads of this book when they were recused and then realised I was only about 50% through so I was so excited to know there was more and damn the 2nd half of the book did not disappoint.
I kinda hate her dad but honestly I hated him in Justice’s book with his treatment of Jessie. What a horrible dick to keep them apart after their kidnapping and lying to both of them to keep them away.
It was a nice change from the feel of the other books, they were forced to be in a situation that brought them closer rather than how the other couples met. Then there was the surprise pregnancy which I kinda thought would be coming because I couldn’t see another way around getting them back together.
Again isn’t Breeze just amazing. I want her to find true happiness and hope she will be featured in more books soon.
A great book but some of it I felt a bit confused by like the therapist etc until I realised what was going on. Some grammatical errors and punctuation in the wrong place but it didn’t spoil the book. I just didn’t feel I could give 5 stars but I would have given 4.5 if Goodreads allowed half stars.

Wrath by Laurann Dohner
5.0
Well damn this book was just so good!
Wrath is so damaged from his time locked up and tortured sexually and it shows when he struggles with his need to have sex with Lauren. She is a great addition to the series, she is funny, compassionate, caring and damn smart.
Her understanding towards Wrath and his issues is amazing. She shows how loving and kind humans can be. She feels like he is rejecting her but he is struggling to accept he won’t hurt her.
I like shadow as well he is funny and he has had as much trouble as Wrath so I am expecting his story to be intense too.
I loved Amanda and hope she finds a species because I’d like to know more about her. Breeze once again is a sweetheart. I’m looking forward to Tigers book next

Obsidian by Laurann Dohner

Meh!
I have no other words for this book. It was just meh…
I didn’t really like Allison or Obsidian at all throughout this book. It was a bit boring. There was no real threat or danger involved in this book except she could lose her medical license and he could be put to sleep.
Literally the last chapter is the only one that made me feel anything when I was kind of hoping they wouldn’t get together, which I know isn’t a common thought but imagine if his life changed dramatically and he didn’t want he’d anymore? That would have made this a hell of a story then she would have to fight to get him back or something, I just wanted something, ANYTHING to actually happen.
I felt sorry for obsidian and I understood Allis reasoning and why she wanted him to go and be a New Species first but I still felt it was a bit meh.
I hope shadow’s story is better, it’s about him mating with a New Species which is totally different to the normal storyline in the series so hopefully it will be a refreshing change.

Shadow by Laurann Dohner
5.0
Damn could Shadow and Beauty be any more perfect for each other!
I loved beauty from the moment she was recused by Jessie and the task force team. She wasn’t like the other gift females and she knew it and just wanted to be treated equally. I couldn’t imagine still feeling so helpless after being free.
Shadow was just wonderful. I loved him in Wraths book and in all the other snippets we have seen of him. He is so damaged so it makes sense why he doesn’t want a female species or human but Beauty is so different from all those things. I’m never going to be able to call him anything but Toga Boy now!
This book was a 4.5 for me but because you can’t give half stars on Goodreads I gave it a 5.
Excited for the next book now. This series has been amazing so far (Barr the last book but we can just ignore that!)

Moon by Laurann Dohner
5.0
I have loved moon since Slades book when he protected Trisha and was so sad when he was drugged in the last book. This was great book. Looking back at their previous relationship as therapist and patient and I felt heartbroken for her when he was forgetting her.
Whenever his memory came back and he just wanted to protect her was, then he was gone again was devastating. Poor Joy. I thought Harley was being a prick but I know it’s because he loves Moon like a brother and didn’t want him hurt again.
I was surprised when the threat to her turned out to be one of her patients rather than the normal threats in this series.
I’m glad moon got his happy ending and reunited with joy.
I think this is the first book we were introduced to True at the gates which opens up for his book next.
The way the flashbacks and his memory returning was written was excellent and made the book exciting I was sad when this book ended .

True by Laurann Dohner
4.0
4.5 but 4 on here because they don’t do half stars on Goodreads.
Well considering we didn’t know anything about True this book was something else! We met so many new characters it was sometimes hard to keep up.
That task force guy Chris was a dick and I hope he is kicked from the force I do not like him at all after his way of interrogating Jeanie, he absolutely deserved that busted nose.
It was interesting to see that they wanted to test some of the breeding drugs on human females and it was so sad that Jeanie thought she has no other choice but to go along with it to save True.
I loved the way all the new characters banded together from Drackwood to help Jeanie prove her innocence. I had a suspicion that the person who turned out to be Agent Terry Brice was who it ended up being (won’t spoilt it but just think back!).
I loved Darkness in this and I can’t wait to see his story he seems so damaged so I can’t wait ro see what kind of female takes his heart and heals him.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about 2 short novellas in one book but I was pleasantly surprised.
Book 1 - we first meet Mourn (formally 140) in Wraths book (#6 in the series) and we meet Dana who is Paul’s sister, who is visiting homeland for the first time. She is a widow who lost her husband and when she meets Mourn in the hospital she feels like she knows she can help him in a way that the species and doctors cannot. She reaches out to him, even though he doesn’t seem to want help. He is still recovering from the death of his mate after they were freed. My heart broke at how he spoke about wanting to die because 139 wasn’t alive anymore. It broke my heart more to hear how he wanted to be closer to her but she pushed him away (a typical Female Species thing to do) but asked Destiny to hold her while she died instead of Mourn, and that made me sob. He’s been though so much and so has Dana. Because this was only about 150 pages it was obvious that things needed to move quickly but this could easily have been a full length book. It was interesting and a new take on how species because we haven’t really seen how a mate survives after their mate dies. I was sad in Wraths book when she was rescued and was so poorly she probably wouldn’t make it and now we know she didn’t. Mourn changes his views on life once Dana walks into it and he helps her get over her loss as well which is adorable. I’d like to see them in future books to see what they are upto and how they take to being parents.
Book 2 - I’m so sad 927 didn’t get a full length book. He was a huge part of Valiants book (#3 in the series) when Tammy was captured and sent into his cage. I’ve been waiting for his book for so long so I was so disappointed when he only got a short story about his mate. It was nice to go back in time to see a species when they were very young. Dr C is a bastard and I really wanted to know If he really did die or if he is actually alive in another country and just gave up on Candi when he grew older. This girl believes she is species and I had to laugh when Jinx said he has never heard a human growl like a species before. That’s because she was practically raised for 10 years alongside 927 now known as Hero and they bonded and were already mates. This explains why he is so caring for Tammy in the 3rd book. I’m glad they are both alive after believing the other had died. I also wonder if Dreamer ever told Hero about him being the reason he lost his temper and accidentally hurt Candi in the cell before she was taken to the Asylum. We don’t really get any closure on the FBI side of it, we only get to see the interview at the end, it would have been nice to see if they closed her mother/neighbours murders and if the asylum was found to be at fault and if they eventually let her go for killing Pess for her involvement and idea to murder Candi in the woods. This COULD ABSOLUTELY BE A FULL LENGTH BOOK and I am mega sad it wasn’t. Hero changes his mind really quickly about her but I understand why he had to because of the length of the book. I’d love a full length book to fill in the gaps.
It only got 4 stars from me because I didn’t like that the books were shoved together and could have been made longer but they were good stories. We have many many more Species we have already met that need stories before we get anymore new characters or side characters such as Breeze, Flame, Jinx, Destiny, and even the kids Forest and Salvation, Noble (I don’t think we have been made aware of most of the other kids names yet).
Here’s hoping the next book is good because that is 2 shorts again so I am already a little disappointed but hopefully they are still as good.

Best Friends by Laurann Dohner
2.0
This was even worse than Obsidian’s book and I really didn’t like that and gave that 2 stars, I rated this the same but only 1.5 stars for book 1 and 1 star for book 2.
Book 1- Mel & Snow. We met snow a little while age in Darkness’ book when he went to keep an eye on Kats friend at their house. He made a point then of saying he didn’t think she would go out with him and mate him because she was shy or whatever so it was obvious he needed a more tough female. Mel is definitely tougher and is a country farm girl through and through. She shoots the bad guys and almost kills one of them. Falls in love with Snow and they get married all in the space of about 5/6 days which isn’t unusual for species matings but because the books were very short things moved fast. I enjoyed this book more than Mary and Lash’s book. Mel already fancied Snow and he clearly already fancied her so it wasn’t surprising when they got together. A nice quick little book but again nothing really happens in the NS world overall and the threat isn’t one of the standards threats it’s just some ass who wants his 15 mins of fame for killing New Species.
Book 2- Mary and Lash. Now I have a real problem with this book. He basically rapes Mary and holds her hostage until she says she will stay with him and ,ate with him. He also doesn’t tell her that she could get pregnant and did it on purpose. I know he’s a Wild Zone resident but that doesn’t excuse his behaviour. She’s terrified of Animals in general and new species scare her even more then suddenly she falls into Lash’s home (quite literally) and she runs his chest trying to get him not to kill her then he has sex with her and says she never can leave. He basically forces her to be his mate and she wouldn’t just leave her fears because he had sex with her. She didn’t even really try to run away until he tells her she could be pregnant, it’s only then she flips out. Then when they get moved to the hotel and Bastiel, Jaded and Torrent turn up she gets a bit scared again and I just don’t see why she would go back like that but accept Lash. No thanks this book wasn’t for me. Yes he saves her parents from being held hostage but that shouldn’t overrule the fact he basically rapes her and keeps her hostage. 1 star just because it’s the NS series and it needed to be read but I can’t see how any of this helps the main story/threat in the NSO.
Hopefully and eventually the author will write a book on a character we already know and love and actually make it a full length book. If it’s another double book I don’t think I’ll waste money on it because I didn’t like Numbers or Best Friends.

Wolf Marked by Veronica Douglas
4.0
So I feel like this book title doesn’t actually tell you the truth about the plot of this book. The title indicates that someone is marked by a wolf (I’d of bet because of mating like in most PNR books) but no one gets marked.
Honestly Savannah pissed me off at times, I was about ready to give up on this book when she was constantly disobeying orders and doing the exact opposite of what she was told. Her family in Magic Side seem pretty cool and there is a lot about Savannah that we don’t yet know. She didn’t learn to control her magic, we don’t know who is after her still but all we know is it is a sorcerer and we have seen glimpses of him in her scrys.
I usually love wolf shifters and their packs but this pack I really really hate. The twist being that they are pretending to be good guys but really they are only looking out to cover their own asses. They aren’t trustworthy and they lie a lot which is not normal of a wolf shifter.
I think it’s clear that Jaxson’s wolf likes Savannah and has yet to realise they are mates and it’s clear Savannah isn’t just a sorceress (lots of hints throughout the book that she is probably also part wolf like her nails hurting and itching, she escapes from tight bounds in the basement room, she slashes Billy and he doesn’t heal and her eyes glow golden honey In the river).
The world of Magic Side is really intriguing and I want to know what other bad blood is between Jaxson’s family and Savannahs family and how it all started. The book was a quick read and I am glad it’s in first person I always feel more invested when it’s written in first person. I am hoping we find out more in book 2 and have some answers and this book felt like it was just the set up to a much larger story and although there was a lot of action/fighting there wasn’t much in the way of steamy scenes between the 2 MC’s which I was disappointed in but I’m holding out hope for this to change in book 2, I hope Jaxson gets his head around things with Savannah like yeah their families have historical issues but they clearly need to get together. A bit Romeo and Juliet but the characters are more Badass.

Untamed Fate by Veronica Douglas

The author is great at writing descriptive scenes but I feel the plot falls short.
I was slightly shocked by the twist but if I was really paying attention I would have put things together and realised who it was. There were plenty of clues but I just don’t think I’ve been that invested to care for looking for red herrings or give aways.
Savannah is pissing me off about how she is so against absolutely everything. She doesn’t seem to have opened her mind to Magic Side and the endless possibilities. Jaxson needs to grow a back bone and not be an alpha dick when he explains things and maybe Savannah wouldn’t be so sour and bitchy about everything.
I’ll finish the series because I want to know what happened with the previous alpha after the families brought down Dragan and why it didn’t bring them closer together. This is the only reason I’ll finish this series.
I won’t be re reading this series so once it’s over I’ll store it away in the back of my mind and probably never think to recommend this to anyone. I feel it’s every young adult and I don’t like young adult very much. I’m not into this slow burning romance thing because it’s very different to how normal Wolf Shifter books go. Change isn’t a bad thing but I don’t believe in this whole wolves being bad thing because they are fiercely loyal and helpful to everyone.
