I feel like you really can’t appreciate Shane without his childhood story. He seems like a douche with insensitive jokes but it’s actually the backbone to his comedy. Also he’s actually the king of YouTube. In high school he made VHS tapes for his class of interviewing people at Walmart and other bits. Like literally before YouTube existed.
This was way better than I hate myselfie and he was out when he wrote this one so he doesn’t have anything to hide. Hearing about him coming to terms with his sexuality was cool. We stan a legend!

-page 134 has a continuity error and it’s been three years and I’m not over it
I'm just upset about her entire relationship with Chaol. and Nehemia!!!!!!!!!!! and I felt kind of betrayed to learn Celaena's secrets AFTER she tells Dorian and chaol. like I thought we were friends ??? and there were huge continuity errors! I hate those. when Dorian isn't here I'm just overall unimpressed.
Edit: 5 stars I like the drama and mystery. Chaol’s a cool love interest because I’m not distracted by being in love with him and I can see depth and series flaws with him.
I like that this book is a bit political and still mystical. I thought if I reread this I would understand her friendship with Nehemia. Still see no chemistry there (see Feyre + Mor in acotar). Nehemia wasn’t explained or explored as a character until after she dies. I HATE THAT! That’s what ruins the book. Otherwise fine! Totally guilty pleasure read, like I must acknowledge how dramatic and twilight-esque the writing is.

An incredibly generous 4 stars. Excellent concept and writing, full characters and not enough spark. It had all the technicalities right which I was really impressed with because I didn’t know what Ann Brashares would do with time travel but I didn’t fall in love like I wanted to :/
It was incredibly engaging and realistic feeling. The story didn’t impact me strongly and it sounds dumb but I wish it were more dramatic.
IM BACK! I FINISHED A BOOK!!!
I didn’t start to like this book until about halfway through and I still think the voice takes a lot of getting used to. Hank really made something totally unique! Like imagine if this was a movie it would be so weird. I wish I had the next one already :)
