Kennedy is a wonderful story teller with her book 'The World Beneath'. Her characters are not particularly likeable or relatable but they were dealt with very well, revealing "the world beneath" each character, their motives, thoughts and emotions. It is definitely a character driven plot. She creates an atmosphere easy to fall into. You cringe with the nail peeling and feel bliss with the therapy. And you leave with a sudden desire to go for a bush walk across Tasmania.
