Loveable characters: No

Love is not enough.

We’re given the justification that they both lost their partner and it’s amazing to feel seen and therefore they are allowed to be selfish with their decisions. I don’t understand how Feyi’s attraction become all consuming. It’s fine to be attracted to other people, but when you let your body dictate you and how you move instead of rising up and holding your own boundaries…I think that’s weak.

Their love is worth more than the hurt and destruction it wrecked on their family.
This is the same justification a cheater would give. That they love one another and their love is worth more than the feelings of their SO. We don’t tolerate or excuse cheaters so…why are we spinning excuses for Feyi and Alim?

Feyi knew from the beginning that the romance shouldn’t have occurred. She knew that doing anything would hurt Nasir. The author tries to emphasize (way too often) that Nasir and her are just friends, but the truth is Feyi KNEW that Nasir has feelings for her. Nasir did her a huge favor with getting her artwork shown by using his connections and she basically spits in his face.
(Nasir isn’t owed her love just because of what he does for her, but he does deserve respect and kindness.)

Even Joy, who I consider to be immoral because she cheats with married women, had cautioned Feyi about the situation.

Feyi was troubled by the idea of moving from one homeboy to his friend (Milan -> Nasir), but is okay moving from Nasir to his dad? Make that make sense. She moves funny.

Making characters that was portrayed as emotionally secure act mad wild to justify Feyi and Alim’s actions is poor writing.

I don’t get what the author was trying to spin. You don’t get to write morally bankrupt characters and expect people to like them. You don’t get to make other character’s anger towards the injustice as justification for the SELFISH decisions Feyi and Alim made.

Feel good romance that left me feeling warm and happy afterwards.
