Khaled Hosseini, this man literally made me cry. This is the first book I cried for.

I started rooting for the characters from the beginning itself. The characters experience struggles from their childhood itself. But, while reading we want the characters to go back to the lives they had in their childhood. Struggle after struggle.

All the characters are very well written. I lived in the streets of Afghanistan for the past few days. Khaled took me to Afghanistan. He showed me the beauty of it, just for a while though. The hardships of the people who lived there is what the story is all about.

I felt for the main characters. I felt when they lost an opportunity of freedom, when they lost someone close, or when they finally were able to break the manacles and cry.

This book, I would cherish for a very long time. I'm so happy I read this book. I'm so happy, I'm telling it from the bottom of my heart.

"For you, a thousand times over."

A line I'll never forget in my life.

I read around 75% of this book in one sitting. All through the 75% I read, I have felt almost all types of emotions. This book has everything in it. While reading this book, for a moment, I decided to keep it aside, take a nap and continue it the next day. But the characters wouldn't let me do that. I close my eyes and I see myself in Afghanistan, in that house, with that man. I couldn't stop it. I had to finish it, and I finished it.

It takes you through a life of a man named Amir. The whole story happens in his point of view. But we read a lot about another character i.e, Hassan. What happened between these two people? How are they related to each other? What made them take such stupid decisions in their lives? One after the other, the story never pauses and lets your breathe.

I've read A thousand splendid suns before reading this. That book starts with struggles and has struggles all through. Unlike that book this one starts very beautifully. Bright days, parties, tournaments and a lot more fun.

The writer had done a great work while writing his characters. Every character has a lot of depth and reason. He gives you a story for almost every major character to behave the way they are behaving.

All through the book I had a pain like something got stuck right in my wind pipe. We get that when we try not to cry. I never wanted to stop this book from the moment I started reading it.

It's a very easy read and definitely a worthy read. You'll feel happy that you read this book.

This man, Khaled Hosseini made me emotional twice with his wonderful books.

Happy reading

The first 25-30% of the book felt very routine and very boring. College love, romance and other things fill this part. But after that part the story literally took a leap. That rest 75% is what made me give this book the 4 star rating.

The college love is something which we read very regularly. Though the writer tried to make it interesting, I felt a little bored. I took some time to complete the first 25 percent. I did not like it and I was equally surprised how this book got such great acclamation and appreciation. Now I am happy because I am not someone who stops reading the book half through. That really helped me this time. Otherwise I would've missed a wonderful story.

The rest of the book took me nothing more than 5 hours to complete. The turns the story took totally left me appalled. The sweet character at which we are looking now had a very difficult and horrific past. And it was difficult to imagine and digest. It was same for the character too.

The partner and her boyfriend go through a lot in this story. But the most wonderful thing is they stay together all through. They get to know about their terrible pasts together. It's their past which made thier present, I shouldn't say beautiful, but doable. If they weren't together I think it would be difficult for both of them equally.

If you like love stories you can definitely try this. But it's not just a love story. It's a lot more.

A perfect thriller, period!

R.K.Narayan is one of those very few whose stories talk to us. They make sure that we are a part of the story. They take us into the world of Malgudi.

The short stories in this book are not just stories, but the lives of people around us. Usually in stories we have a prince or a king who's the hero of the story. But, in this book we do not find heroes anywhere. We find people and we find characters.

Though these are short stories the characters are written in such a way that you do not need any character development. They are simple, yet wonderful.

All the stories deal with simple people living in Malgudi. People like a father trying to get his daughter married to a good guy, a cobbler trying to run his day, a simple guy trying to skip marriage and many others.

Each story tells us the lifestyle of people in India. How people believe in superstitions and how strictly they used to follow. There's always a pinch of humour in his stories. He uses this humour to convey the message without hurting anybody.

R.K.Narayan is famous for his simplicity and heartwarming stories. All the stories in this book are enjoyable. A good collection of short stories.
