The Rulers by K.I. Lynn

Ok so i didn’t love this book but i also didn’t absolutely hate it. There were parts of it i rolled my eyes at and could’ve done without BUT when you dangle a marriage of convenience in front of me at the end, I HAVE to know what happens next. The story wasn’t necessarily bad per se, it just felt at times as if the author felt like they had hit certain tropes or include certain things that didn’t really mesh with what was already happening. I understand it’s a novella and the first in the series so it has to be info-dumpy in a way but trying to tell us all about the siblings and cousins while also delving into the MC’s backstories was a bit much. Also yes we get it, grumpy billionaire is an asshole, but this isn’t an MC romance, his need to call every woman a slut and a whore was a bit much. I’m still debating whether or not I’ll finish the series. Like i said, it definitely wasn’t the worst thing I’ve read but I’m also not running back to KU to download book 2 immediately. I guess time will tell.

OMG Why did I wait so long to read Lala! This novella was just as cute as it was spicy. In barely over 100 pages she managed to make you care about the couple, their relationship and NEED everything to end up perfect for them. I had such a good time reading this!

This is exactly what you expect but that doesn't mean it isn't an enjoyable experience! Who doesn't love a bodyguard romance? It was quick, sweet and had just enough depth to keep you interested. I'd love to see more of these two in the future! 

Ghost by M. Jayne
Did not finish book. Stopped at 34%.

There were a few things that turned me off of this book. The first was a throwaway statement from a child about someone having a g*n. It was very random and seemed completely out of context with no explanation. The way the FMC is described by the MMC. It was that “she’s not a typical beauty but i still like her” bs that’s supposed to be a compliment but isn’t. Also editing errors I can normally ignore, but when you spell the character’s name one way, 2 pages later another, and then 2 LINES LATER the first way again, it really takes you out of the story. Also the FMC is a victim of DV and the MMC says he wants her to feel like he’s stalking her when he’s talking about how close he wants to be with her physically and it felt really gross, especially considering her abusive ex was stalking her. Also the MMC being all “YOU’LL DO WHAT I SAY WHEN I SAY” was so forceful and just no.

I’ve read book one and this one. The series is fine. It’s not amazing by any means but it’s not the worst I’ve read either. The stories so far are short, fast novellas with some spice and a storyline that moves along pretty fast. It’s a nice palette cleanser between heavier stories. 

Hurry Down My Chimney Tonight by Lily S. Flowers

Was there a plot? Who cares?! Was this book hot AF?! Abso-fuckin-lutely! This is a smutty Christmas novella about Mr. & Mrs. Claus and a few of their elves. Although unexpected, i like the way the author spice things up. This isn’t some great literary masterpiece. This is a very short story that is incredibly well written about a different kind of love. I absolutely had a wonderful time.

This was a fun shifter novella. I like that the author made throuples the accepted type of mating within the shifter world and that mating with non shifters was acceptable as well. I enjoyed the story. It was paced well and didn’t have too much unnecessary information.

There wasn’t anything necessarily wrong I just….got kinda bored. It was underwhelming?

I really enjoyed this novella. It was so cute and sweet! I didńt expect to love it as much as i did! I know this was written in 2019 but the use of the R word and the HP reference did put me off a little bit but otherwise it was good story. The way the relationship unfolded and crashed and burned so fast was so realistic of teenage love. I really enjoyed the journey, the redemption, and the rest of the story around the romance.

Deviant Secrets is a hot MMF masked men Cnc fantasy filled book. If you dont like things hot, steamy, and absolute filthy then you should put this one down. I assumed this was a standalone but it feels as if these characters may have come from another series or something because at certain points it felt like i was missing bits and pieces. Overall I enjoyed the story. Ím not normally one for a masked man, primal play type of book but the blurb had me interested enough to check it out and Im glad i did. This is a story of release, vengeance, acceptance, and ultimately love. It was a filthy good time.
