Yea....This book didn't make any sense to be quite honest. I felt there was just a bunch of jargon and an angsty teenage boy throwing his anger out towards the world.
There were some parts that were quite humorous teenage boys being horndogs is great lol
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was pretty okay. I was just tired of hearing Vandy, he's definitely not a reliable main character. I don't plan on reading book two.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to listen to the book. Though my thoughts on the books are honest and true, I give the author the best of luck.
Right off the bat, I was not having with the Eva. Her so called "sister", god mother gets murked and first thing she wants to do is cover up the body?...So much for caring for her like crap. What in the actual hell. I'm not even mad that she's suspecting her husband, I don't fault her for it because in the end, we as readers don't know if its true or not.
Then, scenes moves along to then meet with the detective....and she's not going to get a lawyer? Rule number one, ALWAYS get a lawyer whether or not you're innocent. That's where I stopped because I couldn't stand being in Eva's head.
As much as I wanted to continue out of pure nosiness, I had to stop and just looked at the reviews to see what happened. And looks like I was right, this book is not good and is very similar to Don't You Dare.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I really enjoyed the book! I actually really like childhood friends to lovers tropes. Its one of my favorites. There wasn't a HUGE miscommunications for once LIKE YES. The story was really just damn good like wtf.
Few things I didn't like was the small town politics. Gotta love it when there's politics everywhere. It it what it is because that's just reality.
The unexpected plot twist was...unexpected. I knew Xander was sus, but I didn't think it was THAT kind of sus, you know? Pushing Willow down was NOT on my suspect list. The fire? Maybe
I liked the overall story. I personally felt the pacing was too long and very vey slow. To get from A to B too forever. Wasn't the whole point of the book were the sisters to come together to solve a magic mystery? (not a spoiler, its literally what the book summary says) So why did it take 75% of the book for them to finally meet?
That was my biggest gripe throughout the whole thing. Sure I get the author wanted to bring some conflict inbetween....I just thought it would happen when the sisters were together, not separated.
