I enjoyed this “reimagining of a classic tale as old as time”. It started out really cute, and I liked the references to the classic story, but after awhile the story just seemed to drone on. I wouldn’t particularly classify this as a romance as there was very little romance involved. When the romance finally did appear, it was extremely vague and short lived. There weren’t a lot of physical descriptions of the characters so I found myself reimagining a lot what they looked like or flipping to the cover illustration to get a general idea. It didn’t take anything away from the story at all, but it was just something I noticed. The ending was just okay. Overall, the book was cute and enjoyable, I just would have liked more romance.

This book had a lot of words, but not nearly enough about what I thought the book was going to be about. Admittedly, I did skip some pages because the words (not character dialogue) just seemed to go on and on and didn’t add to the story any. The synopsis of the book was intriguing and made me want to read it, but it didn’t actually get to that part of the story until well over half way through the book. Being divorced, experiencing loss and the depression that follows, I could relate to some parts. Those parts were written with great care as to not be triggering (for me). Overall, I expected more from this story, but it was still a great read.

I felt the story was a bit drawn out, but it was cute nonetheless. Was not a fan of Webb at all and felt that his “storyline” could have been omitted as it really didn’t add anything to the story. Overall, I enjoyed the book.
