witchbuns's Reviews (231)

Overall disappointing but I kept going because I wanted to see plot movement that never realized. Briony is really missing some clues and is not keying into the real mysteries of the world to place significance on what she cares  most about in the uprising. I am not familiar with Dramione fan fic but this girl is not a Hermione because she’s not clued in or curious or clever enough to be a Hermione. I don’t think Briony is even Ravenclaw (she’s so Hufflepuff coded).

I’m not clear on the magic of the world (trees just ripped out of the earth in combat?) and the significance of virginity. And yes I was uncomfortable by how much I wanted her to climb him even if she’s his property and there’s gross abuse all around.

The more I think about the book the more I just don’t understand. Needed more magic and less purity  discussions. Perhaps also an honest conversation about their feelings because they could die at any moment.

Really enjoyed the MMC and the way his depression was examined as an opener. Lots of great slow burn overall, but disappointed in the sort of time jump that they were suddenly leaving to sail and he was healed up. I was also disappointed in how closed door this was because they seem to kiss and then
decide they are super together and he is all in with her and wants to get married. Just please give us a mention if they did more than kiss? There was such hot chemistry but after they kissed we see nothing.
I don’t need graphic descriptions but keep me updated on the relationship status at a closer level. Still, overall a good beach read.

Absolutely a fabulous, lusty attraction between a bold woman finding herself and the gorgeous musician who just wants to spend every min with her. I had wondered about this book because it kept being recommended but the synopsis really seemed trite. I was so wrong - this is a great ride of a book that had such an affecting story as Clemmie and her sisters went through a pivotal period. Highly recommend this book and it’s better than her second book (which I recently read). This one has a lot of juice.

Well constructed but it hinted at the sci fi elements because we had this unreliable narrator in Klara. I was hungry for more of the world building and then when the plot changes at the last third of the book, I was even hungrier to see what that would have developed into. Overall very beautiful but I think I wanted the book to be a different story.

Wow this was so beautiful and it drew the line so carefully between the FMC and MMC. I cannot believe this was a debut book. The relationships she grew in the town and the specific actions she took as a mom made me love this protagonist and I really did feel that Josh was a Love she absolutely needed to have. I really appreciate all the writing that was shared since she was an author and it gave so much credibility to her being a successful and inspiring artist as a character. This was really special.

Fulfilled my caveman hockey romance quota for the month. Childhood friends who are  perfect for one another. And they save the US insulin crisis. Probably won’t read more in the series.

Wow. What a full swoooon. Absolutely loved how Ren was quiet but could sing and dance in a room, and I’m a sucker for the best friend who is always steady and there at the corner of the room. This is a falling in love with your best friend wave and wave after wave of time book. The flashbacks were truly fun (sometimes I’m just too impatient for those because I want big juicy plot points and not setup). This reminded me of people we meet on vacation but I liked Ren so much I enjoyed this more. Will recommend this to my friends and will read anything by this author.

Pretty quick instalust from the MMC which felt underdeveloped (seriously what was it about her, we didn’t know her yet) and the FMC who fought staying in Ireland — we didn’t really know why she had such a strong idea of her “life plan.” But it was a light read, I escaped into Ireland, and thus why not.

Very sweet, quick YA read that focuses on the FMC feeling inadequate and disconnected with her peers, balanced against the feeling of connection with her childhood tormentor while she travels China. I appreciated all the discussion about her anxiety. The  one thing  I wanted was more of the friendship she builds with her roommate Daisy. I wish they had more scenes just alone doing activities vs all the ones solely with the MMC, and Daisy isn’t even in the  epilogue; I needed to see they had a lasting friendship. Def will read more from this author for YA sweet feelings.

Incredible! Callum was an A+ MMC who grew in himself and supported her while still being anxious, having a stutter, and maintaining the space he needed. The healing both characters did was well-paced and the happily ever after was just so lovely. I loved all the details about the city and the Irish language and the FMC’s work in animation. This was quite beautiful and I’m so happy to have found this author. More of this world, PLEASE!
