I can see how this would appeal to the age group it's meant for, it just wasn't for me. The lost-in-time trope is so overplayed. I would rather hand a kid some Time Warp Trio books over this one. With that being said, I think this would translate well to a cartoon series.

I've read so many visual adaptations of Dante's Inferno, this, by far, is probably one with my favorite illustrations - the stark greys and whites with a sketch like quality did a great job of bringing this Divine Comedy to life. I truly appreciate these adaptations because they all try to make Alighieri's original tale more palatable to a modern audience. The story is clear to follow as we journey down into the depths of hell with Dante and his poetic master, Virgil. If you are unfamiliar with this story and want to work your way up to the original translations, I recommend picking this up for sure!

What if a Richard Scarry book met the TV show Dexter? This is the vibes that this graphic novel gave me. I loved it! What's better than a peaceful town with humanoid animals suddenly struck by gruesome murders? The pacing was done well and the illustrations were gripping. I loved that any time we are seeing Sam's thoughts they are written on what appears to be torn notebook paper. This was just really well done. More of this please!

I love Bree Paulsen. This addition just made me love her more. I loved the world that she created with magicians in this book. The illustrations were fun as well. I wonder if this story is set in the same world as her Garlic stories! The themes of grief and the toll that war can have on families were very evident. I highly recommend this one and I hope that Paulsen has plans to write more about these characters!

I'm a massive Trekkie so when I saw this I knew I just HAD to read it. TNG and Picard are some of my favorite things to come out of the Trekverse. I believe that this comic was very true to Jean Luc's character and it was fun seeing him with a full head of hair. The characters were engaging and I loved the little reveal about Q at the end. I'm hoping there are more of these planned in the future. I'd happily read them all!

I think this is one of those cute little motivational books that would make a purrrect gift to a cat lover, someone going through a hard or challenging time, or a just 'cause gift. The illustrations are fun. The cats are silly. The messages are great.
