Can anyone else not stand Antony? Just me? I love Kate but she deserved better 😂 I was expecting this book to be almost the exact same as their season of the show but I was surprised that it didn’t! I liked the book more in that sense because I felt like we got to see more into their relationship whereas the show it sort of ends with them just getting together..

But again I didn’t really vibe with Antony in the book & found him to be pretty annoying most of the time.

This was cute! However I’m looking forward to the love hypothesis even more now because I didn’t love this one. Bee was slightly too annoying for me & Levi was 🥵🥵🥵 so I don’t know the dynamic and timeline of their relationship was a little tooooo far fetched for me (as in he waits YEARS for her & NEVER dates even though they were never friends and they have no idea about each other’s personal lives at all?!).

I also thought some of the events that take place were a little too imagined and unrealistic (obvi I get it, it’s a romance but it wasn’t even a little believable). All in all, it was an easy read and a happy cute wrapped up ending but I sadly just didn’t fall in love with the characters or the story 🤷🏼‍♀️

4 ⭐️ I soo enjoyed the audio book version of this. I have watched the series multiple times as I am obsessed & I hate to say that I think I like the TV Simon more 🫣 I feel like there was more tension and resistance portrayed in the show than the book which I preferred more. BUT I am excited to read the rest of the series without having a TV show expectation of the cast and characters already 🥲🥰

You can tell this was one of Abby’s first novels & although it was still a really cute read it moved SO FAST. There wasn’t much tension or slow burn build up to their relationship I’d kind of happened immediately, which is not the trope I care to read 🤣 I love how she threw in her bakery, Nadia Cakes a few times as an homage to herself. I’m glad I read this but I’m also glad her writing has developed further to what it is today because I LOVE her later books.

4.5 ⭐️I finally did it..I finally finished the SJM universe and I finally get the hype behind Crescent City. I hate that it took me two fat books to feel excited about this series but it is what it is! Definitely not my favorite of her three & in terms of the plot and events I think this one was much slower than TOG & ACOTAR but I 100% enjoyed House of Sky and Breath more than House of Earth and Blood.

I’ll admit, I think the entire “Danika has more secrets” shit was SO over-written like we absolutely did not need that in every single chapter for both books - enough was enough!!! Nonetheless, I can FINALLY hop on all the theory bandwagons and I am so excited to get my hands on House of Flame and Shadow tomorrow because that ending …. 🥵 sheeeeesh take my back!!!! So excited to see where this all goes.

this was ok..

For most of this book - nothing happened. There were big revelations for like two seconds but the writing style just didn’t take advantage of those moments & instead it fell flat afterwards. I will say there is one big twist at the end that I didn’t see coming BUT again the set up for that reveal wasn’t well done & you honestly could almost skim over it without realizing what exactly just happened.

There were a lot of unanswered questions & plot holes in this story that I wish we would have gotten clarification on. For the entire book I though “yes, surely Lilly had killed Jake since she was covered in blood, she seemingly couldn’t stop bashing his head in with a rock, there was a pool of blood where his body was, etc” BUT I had to go back at least 4 times because the way Lilly speak and the way the author explains the events there is literally no way he DIDN’T die from that. But… he didn’t? IDK I just didn’t love this and the entire time I was shaking my head from the ridiculous characters.

Faebound is an easy to devour book that has a little bit of everything thrown into it! Elves, Fae, Humans, war, a complex magic system, Gods, politics, etc. I will say, in some capacity it was overwhelming to cram into one book. I wish we spent more time learning about the relationships between the people and the world rather than jumping right into two different romantic relationships.

What I enjoyed most was the sisterhood between Yeeran and Lettle. Growing up with an older sister myself I really felt their relationship was authentic and relatable. I loved the twist at the end and I enjoyed how true Yeeran is to herself and her mission. I also loved Lettle’s growth in this book & how she learns to trust her feelings & her gut.

I am hoping in book 2 we dive deeper into the complexities that are driving the war & how that then affects the characters relationships amongst each other. I also hope we get to see more of the magic systems at play here because they are truly so unique - I was obsessed with the Obeahs. I have high hopes & expectations for the rest of this trilogy because book 1 was simply a gorgeous introduction to this story!!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this e-book ARC in exchange for an honest review.

never knew I needed an Octopus POV until now.

HOLY cow did I love this book. I was nervous to start it because over-hyped books can go either way & I really wanted to love this one. Once I started it I was KICKING myself for not trusting the book world. This book was so beautiful. The depth of each character’s complex was incredibly well done. I was skeptical about an Octopuses POV but it was so original and delightful to be in his world for a moment. The twist at the end that brought everything together was so well-thought out & emotional. I did not want this book to come to end moreover Marcellus’ to come to an end. It definitely tugged at my heart strings in more than one way. I would recommend this book over and over again for those who love a little big of adventure in their books that still encapsulates a story of friendship in unlikely places, community, grief, family & how to move on in life.
Spare by Prince Harry

3.5 ⭐️I was a bit bored in some parts but I love Prince Harry & I loved listening to him tell his story from his perspective. I can’t imagine growing up the way he did nonetheless losing your mother and having it be surrounded with such controversial topics all over the media. I quite enjoyed how the majority of the book focused on his upbringing and his relationships with his family throughout his early and young adult life. I think leaving the last little bit about him and Megan & their decision to step away from the royal family was the perfect way to end the book. I do understand why some readers are criticizing the way him and Megan went about certain things, especially because much of their life has been in the media - which comes with the territory of being famous and a royal but, in all honesty we’re not and we’re never going to be as famous as these people so it’s hard for me to even share those opinions when we will never walk in the same shoes or the same path. People will always find something to complain about but overall I enjoyed this book & would definitely recommend (although, I would recommend listening to it because his voice is smooth as butter)!! 😜

4.5 ⭐️ Okurrrr Carissa I see you girl & I see how your mind works..

This second book was SO GOOD & much more interesting than the first. I was excited to see more character development and different POV’s introduced in this one book. I especially loved how heavy this book (& series for that matter) is - it felt realistic as far as what war and battles looks like & feel like. There really wasn’t anything that made me stop & go “ok, really” like SO MANY BRUTAL DEATHS (sorry if that’s morbid) but that’s war? I will say I felt that some parts in the writing seem to heavily rely on the relationships and then the war/battle chapters are short in comparison but overall I am diving into book 3 ASAP & can’t wait to see how this story comes to an end!
