Seek the Traitor's Son was everything I love about dystopian fantasy. The world-building felt rich and authentic, the characters were dynamic, and the plot unfolded like an epic movie with constantly rising stakes.
Theran absolutely stole my heart. I wanted to hug him like he was my little brother the entire book. He’s strong, protective, and an absolute badass, but what I loved most was that he never had an ego. His kindness and sincerity made him stand out so much in such a brutal world.
The audiobook was so good! All the narrators did such a fantastic job of bringing this story to life. Highly recommend!

The world-building is doing exactly what it should, it's rich and immersive without ever feeling overbearing.
And can we talk about the representation? Bisexual, polyamorous heroes at the center of a why-choose romance that's treated with genuine sweetness and care? Yes please. The bi and poly rep felt thoughtful and natural, not performative, and the three-way dynamic was honestly the heart of the book for me.
If you're looking for a romantasy that prioritizes story and lets the romance simmer alongside real plot stakes, this one's worth your time.

The Hanging Heart had such an interesting premise and dark romantasy atmosphere, but I struggled with the execution.
Elorie learned to fight far too quickly, and the romance between her and Wilder felt more focused on childish banter, glaring, and physical attraction than real emotional connection.
The world-building was also confusing and underdeveloped, leaving me with so many unanswered questions.
Honestly, this story felt like it needed to be twice as long to fully develop the characters, world, and emotional impact of potential this story has.
This book makes a great palette cleanser. If you don't read a ton of fantasy, you will love this book, but sadly I read way too much high fantasy that this book was a miss for me. Can't believe I'm admitting that I've turned into a world building snob 🤦🏼♀️

I really enjoyed this story! The city setting with crime rings and corrupt, powerful leaders adds so many layers. The world building is well thought out and unfolds in such a natural way.
I appreciated the type 1 diabetes disease (or at least similar) representation with Loren. Though human, Loren is brave and will do anything she can to protect her friends and her dog (don't get me started on a certain scene with her dog. Bawled my eyes out!).
Darien has so many layers to him. He isn't just possessive or dominating. He has a soft side to him and his complex relationship with his dad makes him so human.
The pacing overall is steady with plenty of action. There were some areas that are slower, but not enough for me to lose interest. The ending though is at a break neck pace, made me wish I had the next book in the series to roll on into!

This one was a miss for me. It was very difficult to connect with the main character because she wasn't very emotional. Also, she is engaged to Nova, but there was zero romance between them. More just a regular personal guard relationship.
I had so many questions about the her country itself and despite how politically focused this plot is, they weren't answered. There was some aspects of the world building that was missing.
The first 60% of the book I kept starting and stopping the story because there was no tension or urgency with the plot. I feel that there was soo much potential, but no pay off. Instead I my dislike for Yemi grew with each chapter but I liked Nova more and more.
As this is a new release, I am holding off on posting my review for a bit

I genuinely couldn’t put it down. If you love stories that keep you guessing, keep your heart racing, and leave you stunned by the end, this one absolutely delivers. It ends in a crazy cliffhanger, so I need book 2 ASAP!
