The thing is with this short story, I'm not sure whether I liked it. It was so open ended, which fits the narrative and is impactful, but it is also a little big unfulfilling; which, again, I guess could be the point. I was really annoyed by the black boxes though, irrationally so.

This has always been my favourite Harry Potter book, on every single read through. It's just so full of information, I love reading about Voldemort's life before he became the big bad he is. And the ending; always emotional.

I really love this book as it introduces some great characters, such as many members of the order; we meet Tonks, Kingsley, and Mandungous. We also get to visit a wider section of thr wizarding world, in St Mungos and The Black House. Umbridge, as a villan, is both brilliant and frustrating. Every chapter you just want to read on. Now, I can't rate it higher because I can never completely focus through the scenes, near the end of the book, in the ministry; something about them looses my attention. But Dumbledore, bad ass!

This is one of the best Harry Potter books. The story, the plot, the structure is so much more than the one's that came before. There's a clear rise in quality, and it has hit that mark that is teetering on children/young adult. I especially love Dumbledore in this, we finally get to see the power behind the hype.

It's a great story, though it does open up a lot of nonsense that could have potentially threatened the rest of the series. Although I don't like the time travel aspects, I'm find of the way it works in this; that being an unfaltering loop.

Compared to the first adventure, The Chamber of Secrets is a vast improvement upon the world of Harry Potter. The plot, the writing, is already better, just one book on. I can't wait to start the next story.

It is your average childhood story. This is a re-read for me, and nostalgia does make this book so much better. It's a great story with so much personality, exploring the themes of friendship and isolation; a message that is needed now more than ever, the world being so separated. I enjoyed re-reading and can't wait to continue the series.

The main reason I gave three stars is because it's nothing special. At the end of the day, it's just a children's story, and it's not the best of the set. You can tell it's early work, the writing not always as tight as it could be. But I know that will improve as the story goes on.
