tw// mentions of r*pe/sa down below!

It’s been a while since I’ve actually read this book and it’s given me some time to fully digest and develop some opinions!

First off, in every PD book I’ve read so far (which haven’t been many) there’s always an anal scene but no LUBE??? I get so uncomfortable when they don’t at least try to loosen her up, especially when she’s going to be practically dry… poor girl.

Honestly, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. The beginning gripped me in so fast I could not put it down… but then I eventually did.

I felt the first third went by so quickly and made me want more, and once the last 3rd came along fell flat and nearly had me dnf. It wasn’t a struggle to finish but I can positively say that I did have push myself to read the last few pages.

I found Cora incredibly annoying at times, I know what she went through was awful and left her with trauma, but her dragging along Dean and not admitting her feelings and true intentions to him (when he very much did) was not it… I can look aside her getting with Dean after he was with her sister for 15 years (She does admit to cheating on him) but they hated each other and there was barely any actual development between them to hint that they both had an attraction that wasn’t just sexual, like BOOM they had feelings that I didn’t see coming as quickly as it did.

I love Dean, he was such a sweetheart to her during their captivity and I love how he helped Core cope. Him singing to her was so cute.
