reading this is great but listening the audiobook version of this is on another level. i love the voices and i really felt like i'm inside the book. it gives off bridgerton vibes hehe. i love that it is focused on the characters and not on the plot because it made it so much better.

i hate it. dark romance isn't for me. the only good thing that happened here is Mirai and Jake.

i listened to the audiobook of this and it's only for an hour. it inspired me and made me hopeful. that even though i did not excel at school, there's a possibility that i would have a good and stable job. it also taught me about the hardships of black women and how they are strong and determined.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Mace's Life
Sobrang dami niyang pinagdaanan sa buhay. She lost her mom at the age of ten and her dad at eighteen. She was alone for so many years. Numbed by the pain, she still continued to live. Ung lakas niya bhe di ko kinaya. Pati ako naiyak nung sinabi niya na kay Elliot lahat.

When I lost her. if felt like I was drowning in all the love I still had that could never be given.

I feel him right there behind me but I know he isn’t. I want to call out to him, to ask him what’s for breakfast. I want to hear the even cadence of his footsteps, the intermittent snap of the newspaper as he reads. All these instincts seem to live so close to the surface that they warp and weave through the fabric of possibility. Maybe he is downstairs, reading. Maybe he is just getting out of the shower.

Elliot and Mace's Relationship
They started as friends, then lovers, then nothing for 11 years, then friends to lovers. Yeah. You're in for a roller coaster ride!! They met when they were fourteen and fifteen. Became reading buddies and best friends. They fell in love at the ages of seventeen and eighteen. They were each other's first. Then something tragic happened and Mace left everything behind. 11 years. Then Elliot came to the city.

In a sea of people connecting to the world via the isolation of their smartphones, Elliot is reading a book.

He's my person. He's always been my person. My best friend, my confidant, probably the love of my life.

I like living alone, but would rather live with you. I like sleeping alone, but would rather have you in my bed. - Elliot

The past decade seems like a foggy blur, like we took a long road trip from one point of the earth and back again, traveling in a wide circle, destined to end up here.

Mace and Sean's Relationship
Simula palang alam kong wala namang love sa kanila. There's the sense of familiarity and comfort that they both needed from each other. Tulad nung sinabi ni Mace, they have so much in common. They are both wrecked and in need of fixing but they cannot do that. Though I admired Sean's level of maturity. He is a good man.

Never, in the history of time, has a breakup been so gentle. There's barely a ripple in the water. So maybe we were barely together enought to even break.

Overall review
> Rating- 4.25 (kasi may cheating😭)
I love the book. It made me experience all kinds of emotions. Magaling si author sa plots kasi pati ako napapakamot nalang sa ulo. Although nakukulangan ako sa interactions ni Sean tapos ni Mace. Kasi they stayed as friends so I think deserve nang iba pang chapters. I think yun lang!!
