While it might appear that nothing is happening, there are, in fact, lots happening in this sophomore drop by Reid.

Like her debut, Come and Get It tackles themes of race, privilege, and all that money, honey, with the University of Arkansas and their scholarship dorm as the backdrop.

This is a very character-driven novel, and while you’re reading you may be thinking, ok, and…, but it’s all about the payoff (money, honey); and though I knew where it was heading, I still gasped and made a surprised “O” face.

The older, successful white woman with money (honey), the younger Black woman saving to buy a house, pranks, and all of the microagressions made for a voyeuristic, tense, cringe filled read.

The girls that get it, get it.

Thank you Putnam, Libro.fm, and PRHAudio for my complimentary copies!

Lauded as a queer vampire sorry, I quickly downloaded it because it has all of the elements of a great story.

Unfortunately, from what I’ve read, there’s only one queer scene and not much else.

Wanted to like this one, but quickly lost interest.

I thought I would pick this up again after awhile, but I don’t seem to want to, tbh!

It’s def well researched and interesting but I guess I’m
just not that interested in finishing a book about another white woman who has achieved success been canceled and still came out on too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I really enjoyed Luckiest Girl Alive, all the twists and turns, but I couldn’t finish Bright Young Women, unfortunately.

I loved the idea of taking the story away from the perp and telling the story of the victims, but the book seemed to drag and ultimately I lost interest.

Wasn’t for me.

I tried to keep going with this one but I couldn’t. Maybe it’s me!

I love an unhinged, unreliable MC, but I could not connect with Clare and everything felt a bit underwhelming.
