I am happy. An UF protagonist, who's about my age. Didn't think I'd stumble on something like this ever. And the age isn't something that's an issue or anything. It just is. This makes me smile.

This is my first book (or novella more so) in the Other Realms, and there were some things I feel as if I should already know. They weren't things that bothered me as much as things that left me with curiosity and questions. Not sure if these are knowledge you get from the earlier series in the universe or not... I'll find out eventually!

If not for my cold demanding more sleep for my body, I would've finished this way earlier. I haven't yet read many witchy books, but this one got me in its hooks. At a point it made me feel so anxious for the protagonist and where the plot would be going, I was trying to read faster. And while the plot of this story specifically was resolved, it left me interested in the continuation, the actual first book of the series, which I shall start today, since I need to!

Loved the peek into the life of a coven. And how it functions as a community. Eager to learn more about that too.

Want witches; with white, grey and black magic? Want mystical creatures and intricate social structures between them? Want a protagonist in their 40's? Want well flowing writing and a unique setting? This is for you. :)

Received as an ARC. No spoilers as such, assuming you've read the 0.5 book.

I wanted so bad to read this earlier, but I wanted to get a better grasp of the universe after reading Rune of the Witch, so I went and started reading The Other Realm -series. I devoured few of the Jinx books (not quite finished with them yet!), but wanted to get back to Amber!

Oh I so enjoy Amber... She's such a rare type of female UF lead. And in a very good way. She's ambitious, actually a proper adult, responsible type who has actual good coping mechanisms for her problems. And then there's the soft spot of her enjoying steamy romance novels to fill the void in her love life...

Though I'm sure we all see what's going to happen with that... with Bastion around. As much as I want to see the progress of their relationship — and see them having their happy everafter — I do wonder about the griffins. Maybe they're still more explained in the Other Realm books I have not yet finished, but I have a hard time getting over this urge to maim, kill and torture. That's a big big flaw to have in one's core being. Denying that would be denying yourself. Yet it has no place in a humane civilization. So guess we'll see where that will go.

Anyhoo. Can't wait to read more!
