This was pretty good. It had a few very common, cliche moments, but I like the idea behind and will continue with the series.
I just can't get into this. I liked Wings, but the writing is pretty awful in this novel. I read 160 pages and don't care one bit about the romance. I thought the plot would be interesting, but the writing was too bad to find out.
Despite Aprilynne Pike's seriously good writing skills, I have found this novel to unsurprising and unoriginal. Overall the premise of 'Earthbound' just could not click with me. Everything screamed cliché including a instant love on sight sub plot and other plot of love triangle and some very convenient scenarios to just move the plot along.
That being said, Pike is a good writer, and if you have not had enough of the paranormal romance, fantasy YA novel, this book would be a good fit for you.

Just as good as Wings. Now based on how she chose to end that love triangle, i have the feeling Tavia will be opposite.
Edit
So freaking good! I love Tavia, and Benson I am no longer certain of. The goddess reincarnation thing reminds me of Pikes other series. It would be terrible if she dies, but she should also chose who to love. Are all these people really dead because that's to much to believe.

I read it in about two days, but I was confused for about 73% of that time. Granted, that is because the main character is confused and trying to figure out who/what she is. I'm intrigued by what the author has left us at the end of the book in preparation of the next - an interesting secret society/mythology as it were, connected to larger human problems. I'm not interested enough to be counting down the days until the next book comes out, but I might give it a read. Given the lackluster start to September, I am VERY pleased that the next book I read was SO AWESOME.
Such a great book, interesting, and different, and unique, and I really enjoyed it, can't wait for the next book, Earthquake!
This book was really good.
At first when reading the synopsis, it did sound a bit like Unremembered by Jessica Brody, and was hoping that it was anything but.
I'm glad it wasn't like it, as sometimes similar books aren't as good.
Full of mystery, suspense, history and romance.
Plus the cover is gorgeous!
It was a great story, and I can't wait to carry it on.

Interesting premise, but the pace is very slow and you don't get much background until the very end, and even then its not as clear as I needed. Lots of over the top romance, so this book may not be suitable for all readers.
If you liked Pike's 'Wings' series (which I did) you will love this too. At times I had to berate myself for reading something so incredibly saccharine and formulaic but if you can agree to compromise any semblance of being a grown up whilst reading it then you're on to a winner.
Tavia is an 18 year old who has been through immense personal tragedy. Cue magical powers, heart-aching love triangle and journey of self discovery. Throw in plenty of boy crushing and lots of i-don't-know-who-to-trust and you've got yourself several hours of pure, unadulterated enjoyment.
Pike does bittersweet and personal denial very well. She is clearly a woman at peace with exposing her inner teenager and for that I respect her.
Read it but it will probably leave you wanting something a little more mentally stimulating. In the mean time, I'm off to read the second one!
