This the first Danielle Steel book I am reading and I must say I like her simplistic narrative. The story has a disturbing start, ending with some positives. A good afternoon read.

I have never read a Danielle Steel book before, but had heard of the books she wrote.

This book was very different. It talked about a subject that seems to be a recurring topic in the news (sadly). Underage drinking and rape are the topic of this book and what happens when secrets are kept and parents who can afford lawyers vs. parents who can’t.

It was a good read, but not my favorite. A very long introduction at the beginning and explaining who was who and that was not easy to get through.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

I feel the sensitive topics in this novel were handled with great care and that each stakeholder in the events of this book were given a fair portrayal. However this is not my favorite of Steel’s.

I haven’t read many of her new titles, my favorite are like Granny Dan and Letters to Nam and mirror image and Jewel. Those all immediately captured me and had me emotional invested in the stakes.

I never felt like I fell in to the story or ever really connected with the characters and I think that has to do with the book focus on the culture around the event and showing each side.

Excellent writing, heavy topic handled well, classic Danielle steel flair but just 3 stars for me.

4.5/5 this is an important read and gives an interesting look into relevant issues for our society. It was a pretty quick read once I got into it and the ending was satisfying as well. The beginning had a lot of characters to keep track of and admittedly I couldn’t remember some of them throughout the book.

Just awful. My first and last Danielle Steel. How does a book this poorly written and with thematic content this problematic get released in 2020?! It's not enough that it is mysoginistic, racist, and xenophobic, but the writing is so awful I can't finish it. This will not be donated or sold. It is going in the trash.

I have really mixed feelings about this book, depending on the authors intentions. If Steele was trying to raise awareness for rape and some of the horrible views people held like Joe Russo and Shepard then she certainly did that however there were many times where the writing just felt off and wrong. One clear example being at the beginning when a teacher ‘eyed up’ Vivienne and said how he understood how male students couldn’t resist her, if this was some sort of attempt to show how some teachers were corrupt it surely was executed badly. It also focussed largely on the effects on the boys and the school and in my opinion not of the trauma Vivienne would be likely to face.

In addition, there was constant repetition which was completely unnecessary and a lot of narration which led to some parts feeling almost boring. I found myself counting down until the end of the book. Was a very quick read and not difficult to understand but certainly not a boom id highly recommend people to read.

I loved this book the only issue I had was with Danielle Steele trying to incorporate a little romance near the end. The romance portion was a little bit of stretch and really was not needed. It did not take away from the main story of the book.

Nice interesting idea for a story. Development of the main topic happens too fast. Not enough time to build a relationship with the characters. Before you know they are fucked and you couldn't care less because you are not invested in them.

Still a good idea, looking forward to reading future books from this author
