it is a little heavy on the science but once you could understand the life and duties of nanobots and biots it becomes a bit easier. Lots of action and a pretty interesting story. I still wish I would have had a bit more info on the brother in the mental ward though.

this concept really sticks to my memory. compelling.

Couldn't put it down! The disturbing idea of tiny nano-robots climbing around in my brain changing memories and controlling emotions is beyond scary! Can't wait for book 2!

I liked the concept of this book and the whole idea of macro and micro. I think the author was onto something there. The book was action-packed and I really enjoyed how the battles were going on macro and micro level at the same time.
What I had the biggest problem with were the characters. I just don't think they were very interesting. Also, for the first half of the book I kept mixing up some of them. This has never happened to me before and I was really confused. And then I realized, there wasn't proper description of most of the characters at all! Except for "the girl with the tattoo" or "that old guy" I had no idea how the characters looked and reading their names didn't bring an image to my mind. Has anyone had a similar problem? Or did I just miss the descriptions...

creepy but really good, I can't wait for the next one

The only reason I finished this book is because I hate leaving things unfinished, not because the book was interesting enough for it. All action, no actual story. I didn't feel any bond with the characters, I couldn't like them, but also couldn't care enough about them to hate them. Grant also seems to like adding a lot of gross descriptions for the sake of being gross (at least, I haven't found a reason for it...). Add a dose of ableism (the "deformity = bad guy" trope is old, and taking a cane from someone who needs it to walk and stand because you can use it better in a fight is also absolutely not done) and I can't do anything else than give it one star and stay as far away as I can from any other book of this author.

Sci-fi fun. Nanobots fighting biots in brains in an attempt to take over world leaders.

Very interesting technology and uses for nano robots, but I don't quite believe in the biots. Also, that is not an ending. That's like a hook for the next chapter, it just fell off the end of the book instead.

I can appreciate a young adult book that treats its audience like intelligent humans. This book was scientifically hard to follow at times, but I feel better having a challenge rather than reading a book that is dumbed down in order to pander to its readers. I also enjoyed the moral ambiguity of both sides. The reader isn't 100% sure who the good guys are. I'm definitely reading the next one.
