I really like this book because it is fast paced and has a lot of riddles and mystery while also driving the story of the different characters. I'm so excited to read the second book!

Okay this book had me in its claws from start to finish. When I was getting towards the end of the book, I found myself wishing that the book was longer. Good thing theres more books in the series for me to enjoy!

"True-crime aficionado Stevie Bell is set to begin her first year at Ellingham Academy, and she has an ambitious plan: She will solve this cold case. That is, she will solve the case when she gets a grip on her demanding new school life and her housemates: the inventor, the novelist, the actor, the artist, and the jokester. But something strange is happening. Truly Devious makes a surprise return, and death revisits Ellingham Academy. The past has crawled out of its grave. Someone has gotten away with murder. "

This book reminds me a lot of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Both main protagonists go out to try to solve a case from the past; a case most people have thought came to end and pushed into the back of their minds. However, I liked Truly Devious better.

The setting was very thoughtful and clever; A place that is relatable, but doesn't exist. It's not too far fetched but hasn't been made yet so you are eager to go on this adventure with Stevie. I also found that each character that Stevie had come in contact with had a lot of unique personality and makes them feel like a part of the story. Maureen uses a classic trope of cut-out letters and randsom phone calls demanding for money, and puts their own twist into it.

Overall this book gets a 5/5 stars from me. Super awesome and truly spectacular :D

It was a lot of boring bits to actually get to the exciting parts. Im so mad at the cliff hanger ending because I didn't want to continue the series.
