Ce n'est pas mon préféré mais l'intrigue est quand même assez solide. Ça valait la peine juste pour lire cette déclaration du pasteur à son épouse : ''Je suis anticléricalement fou de vous!''

I finally gave in and read a Marple after being a Poirot purist for a long time. No surprises, this is a classic - a little slow to start but quintessential Christie through and through.

Solid showing. The pace was slightly different than previous novels and I am not sure if I will like the Miss Marple series. Overall great character development with lots of twists and turns on the way to solving the mystery.

Book one of the Miss Maple series. A goid mystery. I kept thinking I knew who the murderer was and turns out I was misled.

When I first started listening to audio books, I listened to most of the Hercule Poirot books by Agatha Christie. I enjoyed them especially because they were read by David Suchet, who is Poirot in my mind.

For some reason, I never listened to the Miss Marple series that Christie also wrote. I am not sure why, but I decided to correct this deficit. Murder at the Vicarage is the first full length appearance of Jane Marple and I enjoyed it very much.

The reader was excellent; the mystery was interesting and so the whole experience was good. My favorite parts were the proofs that human nature never changes. There were complaints about youth and technology - gee, do we ever have such complaints.

I am looking forward to seeing what Miss Marple gets up to next.

Pretty good book. It kept you guessing and was entertaining. The ending was a little hurried, but overall an enjoyable read.

I didn't care for this book at all. It had too many suspects and I cannot stand the gossiping. Apparently this type of mystery does not interest me.

Wasn't a whole lot of Miss Marple - she comes in for the hail mary pass. But classic Christie style of red herrings and misdirection all the way.

Not knowing anything going in other than it was a popular TV show back in the day, I googled the lack of Miss Marple in this first book of "her" adventures and found this ditty:

The character of Jane Marple in the first Miss Marple book, The Murder at the Vicarage, is markedly different from how she appears in later books. This early version of Miss Marple is a gleeful gossip and not an especially nice woman. The citizens of St. Mary Mead like her but are often tired of her nosy nature and the fact she seems to expect the worst of everyone. In later books, she becomes a kinder and more modern person.
