ARC Review: Tough Luck Hero (Copper Ridge) by Maisey Yates
Living in the moment took on a whole new meaning for Copper Ridge residents Lydia and Colton. A recent round of upsets has left Colton rapidly fleeing and ending up Vegas bound. Lydia unexpectedly comes along for the ride and a little too much fun leads to a predicament that makes for great storytelling. I love Maisey Yates, her stories are a joy to experience because her characters have huge personalities. Whether focusing on gaining insight and working through past mistakes, finding a second chance at romance or waking up married to the most irritating person, she makes the most of irresistible scenarios and heart racing romance. I am a fan no matter what she writes.

OH, WOW! I thought One Night Charmer, the previous book in the Copper Ridge series, was good and it is. Really good but, sorry, it doesn't hold a candle to the sparks and banter Lydia and Colton make.
I through-fully enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It's not only one of the most hilarious romance novels I have ever read, it also has a smart plot and crazy charismatic characters. When I finished the previos book, I was incredibly curious about Colton's destiny? Did he end up marrying Natalie the Harpy? Or did he find a way out of her? His family? All the expectations crushing down on him?
Well, Tough Luck Hero answers all these questions and much more. It's amazing to me how much Colton changes through the story and all the realizations he makes for himself and the people he loves. His strong sense of family and responsibility are there, they will always be there, but I was happy to see him stand up for himself and his own happiness. Sometimes what you want, it's not what you need. And what you need, it's not really what you want. Never more exemplary with Colton, who had to let everything go in order to figure out himself and what he really needed and wanted out of his life. Colton is also one of the most hot and endearing leading man ever. It's so hard to not fall in love with him.
Lydia's storyline and personal issues were very surprising. Mostly because through the previous four books in the series she never gave away anything of the things we learn about her in this book. She always came across as a very efficient, coolheaded and well-adjusted young woman. I guess that's kind of the point here, that is actually a façade to not deal with the strong emotions running deep. And Lydia has a lot of unresolved feelings going on. Her relationship with Colton helps her let go too, finally allowing herself to feel something. Bad. Good. Anything. Everything.
The relationship between Colton and Lydia is incredible. The way they push each other buttons, the hilarious banter, the sexy times and the way their minds work is just top-notch character writing. What I loved the most is how they challenged each other to be better, the companionship and the fun they have together.
This book is definitely going to my all time favorite romance novels, along the side of Jill Shalvis's One in a Million and Sarah Morgan's Christmas Ever After. AND into my best books read in 2016. A must read.

What I liked/worked for me:
I enjoyed the dynamic between Colton and Lydia – I enjoyed their bantering and frustration with each other. They are both so stubborn and set in their ways. It is always fun when two people with the same characteristic find themselves falling for each other.
Maisey Yates does a great job of weaving the stories in the previous 4 books into this one without overdoing it or having it take away from Colton and Lydia’s story.
I loved the overall idea the story is based on- man left at the alter and then finding himself married to a woman he thinks he can’t stand but can’t remember what happened that night in Vegas.
The underlying story line about the West Family and the drama involved with all of them.
The Drama – I am not going to say more as it would give a lot away.
What I didn’t work for me:
The quick turnaround in their relationship. I just didn’t believe the change could or would ever happen this quickly. It was the one thing that was unbelievable in my mind.
Some of the story moved along very slowly and I had a hard time staying focused. I found myself wanting to know what happened next more quickly. Some of the story felt unnecessary. I have a feeling that there are some parts of this story that build into bigger story lines in the future books in this series.
Overall, a consistent romance series. I look forward to the next book.

Really enjoyed the unusual pairing of two characters who are very much alike: good girl/boy control freaks. And how each recognizes the other's issues because they share those issues themselves.

Tough Luck Hero was a sweet treat. Colton and Lydia's story of coming together was certainly a whirlwind tale. It was funny, passionate, and totally romantic. I loved how their friendship brought them closer to the truth of who they were in heart.

Parts of this felt a bit far fetched and slow to me, but it ultimately paid off in the end. Colton and Lydia were great characters who were so well suited to each other (once they figured out how they could help each other).

Fun, sweet, sexy read from Maisey Yates in the Copper Ridge series. After being left at the alter, Colton ends up at a bar with bridesmaid Lydia. A number of shots later they wake up in Vegas as newlyweds, something neither of them wanted. Every since they were introduced by Colton's ex-fiancé they've had an instant dislike for each other but a desire not to disappoint leads them to continue with their fake marriage. But a fake marriage can lead to real feelings when you add the physical. I really enjoyed continuing the series, getting a chance to follow up with earlier characters, and seeing Colton get his HEA. Fun read, excited to continue the series!

4 Stars Definitely!!
"You're my accessory." As soon as snd said that, she got a little giddy kick in her chest. She was enjoying the idea a little too much. "The arm candy." "I'm your arm candy?" "My trophy husband." - Lydia and Colton
First off, just to be clear: I am not a huge fan of Maisey Yates. I don't think she is a terrible writer or anything, it's just that her writing doesn't reel me and have me hang onto every word. Granted, I have only read the Copper Ridge Series but in all honesty, I found myself sometimes skipping pages and parts of the previous book with the exception of Part Time Cowboy (book 1) because I was bored and uninterested.
So, you could see why going into Tough Luck Hero, I wasn't exactly excited....but I ended up being so wrong! In my opinion, this book is definitely the best in the series. Hands down.
Lydia and Colton are literally a match made in heaven. And what makes them a match made in heaven is that they seem to be the exact opposite. They clash, they fight, they annoy each other. But there's this passion between them. This heat...they no longer seem to be able to ignore. Or should I say, can't?
