Could not get into the storyline. The writing felt very immature and all over the place, and the storyline wasn’t intriguing enough to want to move forward.
The South Wind by Alexandria Warwick is Sleeping Beauty inspired with a touch of Greek Mythology. It is part of an interconnected standalone series. Princess Sarai is cursed to die on her 25 birthday. With her kingdom in danger, she teams up with her immortal ex lover to save it.
Sadly this was a DNF for me. I gave it 50% and I felt like the story just never really got going and didn’t hold my attention. I also found the FMC to be very immature and there was a lot of miscommunication and lying going on. I did like Alexandria Warwicks writing style and her use of description and imagery so I will be checking out the other two books in the series.
Thank you to Saga Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, for the free copy for review.

A Sleeping Beauty retelling with a touch of Greek mythology and a second chance romance, sign me up!
Princess Sarai was cursed at birth. If she lives, she will later die on her 25th birthday, and her land will be cursed. Fast forward to nearing her 25th birthday and time is running out, while the god she once loved, the South Wind is back in her life after leaving her suddenly several years ago.
The South Wind had it all, love, loss, heartbreak, world building, and action. The last 30% was exhilarating with heart pounding moments.
I appreciated Notus’s calm, patient demeanor with Sarai, while I liked Sarai and sometimes felt sympathy for her, I did find her to be a bit juvenile at times on some of her actions. Not one of those about to be twenty-five but someone of a teenager.
Overall, this Sleeping Beauty retelling artfully merges myth and romance, delivering a story that is both imaginative and emotionally resonant. Sarai and Notus bring depth and tenderness, while the book’s final trials makes sure readers are left breathless. If you are looking for a tale of fate, forgiveness, and rekindled love, this novel offers a memorable journey.

This is a series I’ve gotten lost in. They’re sweet and romantic and heavy and sorrowful. I think this was the best one yet with Sarai and Notus and her brothers and his brothers (and Wren!). A really nice escape from reality.

This is possibly my favorite book in the series so far. I love that each book can standalone as its own novel even if it benefits to read the other books. The story kept me engaged the entire time and the characters were complex and overall great. I don't think this would qualify for a reread for me, but it's still a wonderful book.
This book was crafted beautifully and you could feel the authors passion in it. I liked the way it was a second chance romance but done differently than I’ve seen in fantasy before. I did feel like main character was not consistent and I couldn’t figure out why she pulled away from the love interest as often as she did.
