So this year I have a challenge to get rid of the books of my physical TBR and this one has been on there for quite a while I wasn't too sure of what this book was about apart from wolves I feel like it reminds me quite a bit of Twilight but the wolves version this is a really cute book I didn't think it was going to go straight into the romance side so this book starts out with Grace and how she's always known the Wolves we find out later that this is because she was bitten when she was younger but she's never turned into a wolf so a kid from their town has gone missing called jack they find out that the Wolves have killed him technically yes they did bite him and he did start turning into a wolf then some of the villages more enforcement whatever they're called decided to shoot all the Wolves Grace later finds out her dad was one of the people who went to go and shoot them on the night of the shooting this is when she finally meets Sam her wolf he is bleeding intensely and she thought he was going to die so she took him to the emergency room they sorted him out we later find out that some might not change back to human form ever again after this as supposedly they only have so many changes in them and they change back when it's hot outside this was a really cute book and I can see why it was aimed at younger children I did really enjoy it and I hope to read the rest of them

I loved Shiver, and in spite of my age, 68, became a lifelong fan of Maggie Stiefvater, when I first read it years ago.  I picked it up by mistake, my brother having recommended a 'wolf book' to me, and I made sure my daughter and  grandchildren read it too. It is not unusual for me to venture into ya or even children's books, but there has to be something special to keep me there. What I love about Shiver is the beautiful connection between  Grace and Sam.  I loved the narration (David LeDoux and Jenna Lamia , and lastly I love Maggie's almost poetic prose.
This has an intriguing perspective of what werewolves are.

I really enjoyed the premise of this book. Forget the usual full moon and silver myth and go with this new one: temperature.
The book starts off quite promising and while I was a bit concerned that Grace didn't fight the wolves, it didn't seem to fit.
I loved the way the temperature was displayed on each chapter and the switching of POV. The young-ness of the characters was sometimes out of place with some actions being incredibly mature and yet their personal interactions were incredibly childlike for a while.

I loved the story of the wolves. I loved finding out more and more about them and about Sam's attempts to stay human.

I can't wait till I can go out and get Linger.

When I picked up this book, I thought it was just going to be a fun book to break up the typical YA romances I had been stuck on for a while. And yes, it is still of the same genre, but it has a bit of action and now I am looking forward to the next one!

Review when I re-read this book in 2013:

3 stars: A re-read that was too soon for me. Even after 3 years I still remembered a lot of it, and that kind of spoiled everything. I knew what would happen and all.

In overall it is and always will be a good book. But it was stupid of me to read it so soon after reading it. But I had too, for a challenge on my groups. :\

Grace and Sam made a lot of good and I loved reading about them again, seeing their relationship bloom up again, see their love that is overflowing. See their sadness.

And I loved to read about the wolves again. :)

My first reread of the year!! I remember reading this when I was like 12 and being completely obsessed with it. I figured I’d reread it now that I’m an adult to see how it holds up, and it did… kinda. The first half, I’m not gonna lie, was ruff (get it?? Cause it’s a werewolf book.. and y’know… dogs go ruff??like barking?? get it???) I thought Sam and Grace got together wayyy too early. I get why Sam was in love with her because of how he saw her as human, but Grace only saw Sam as a wolf. He was just a wolf to her, she had no idea of his human side, but it was still insinuated that she was in love with him for those years. Idk I thought that was weird. Another thing that wasn’t my favorite were the characters, especially the women. I thought they were more boring than the male characters, which sucks!! Grace was okay, but I can’t really pinpoint her character development, but I can with Sam!! Once I got to the second half, I saw the beginning stages of Maggie Stiefvater’s signature writing style that I love oh so much. Overall, I actually enjoyed reading this book, and I might continue with the series!!

Ok, I would rather give this 4 1/2 stars, but the story is wonderful. I'm broken-hearted that I can't read the second one until next month. I can't put it any more plainly: get this book.
