I stand by my original comment that this is Fifty Shades fan fiction (written a la Fifty Shades and Sylvia Day's Crossfire series). And of course there is the fact that Fifty Shades is Twilight fan faction. Oh, the copyright infringements. Hmm. I suppose imitation is the highest form of flattery, and who can resist yet another oversexed, time-on-his-hands, knowledgeable-about-women's-clothing billionaire?

That said, this book was better than the first, though they still have a ridiculous amount of sex and they seem to have had a year-long relationship squeezed into a measly three or four weeks. Almost too much sex. To the point where it got a little dull. And that's not good.

BUT... the story in this book was better than in book #1. And while the sex is good enough, Ms. Kenner, we get it. They f**k a lot. All day. Every day. All night. Every night. Fill in the rest of the story, and you might have something decent.

Better than book 1. Will read book 3. Hoping for continued improvement.

This book is worse than the second when I thought that it would become better it's actually the opposite. The author simply killed off the reasons why I was loving the main character now I just hate her for that.
Nikki is simply a really weak character she had never her word to say. Or maybe she doesn't take the opportunity to say it. She's weak because I don't see any change with the Nikki in the first book besides the fact that she's fucking more? I don't know either. She should really mind her own business, meaning trying to solve her cutting issue than just trying to decipher other's. She's weak because in what I understood in the text Nikki thinks sex is the key to ease every damn problem. Like no girl keep your panties up, it's not.
I didn't like the fact that they trailed off the kinky game with the "sir"and all. It was cool in the first book now it just gets boring I seriously rolled my eyes when they decided to continue it to be honest.
They should have evolve the game at another step or something because it's annoying. Some parts were really degrading for Nikki I think she was really submit like a dog. I didn't like it since she never really did it back. So she's weak to me (not sorry)
This book lacked of cliffhangers. I wanted angst! Fights! Break ups! Make up! They were neither of them. Oh no wait One break up maybe but Nikki is too weak and can't camped on her opinions so she jumped in the first plane to run in his arms. I know people would say it's love but I'm disappointed in her. It's like she can't have another opinion on him, he's not goddamn perfect. She could have take a moment to count the pros and cons before declaring her flame.
My loath for this character make it very difficult for me to read.
I'll probably read the last installment of the series because I'm not a quitter but it'll be hard.
The only character that I can bare is Evelyn maybe and sometime Damien.
2 stars because the steamy scenes were good

Meh. Not 50 Shades level of ridiculous. But not great either.

Eh

The characters and storyline are underdeveloped. These two have great, graphic sex but it’s like those scenes are written and then the character development and storyline was written around that.

I've been Damienized *sigh*

Damien Stark is now my favourite billionaire, and Nikki Fairchild is who I want to be when I grow up :)

"Claim Me" is the second book in J. Kenner's "Stark Trilogy", and I'll fully admit I was turned against the first book because of its very close ties to "Fifty Shades of Grey" and the tell tale billionaire lover boom that's rampant around the erotic/erotic romance genre as of late. I rate this book slightly higher from the first not for quality, but for more that I think I followed the story a little better in the context of its cliches and beyond. However, I think this book suffered from a severe lack of story, which is why it doesn't get any higher than my respective rating for it. There were more than enough sexy times to account for between Stark and Nikki, but very threadbare establishment, development or conflict to speak of. If recalling the main points of this story with taking out all the steamy scenes, the only thing you'll get out of it was just the fact that Nikki suspects Stark is lying to her about things related to the business, ends up getting their secret portrait deal blown wide open, paparazzi difficulties, and Stark being indicted in Germany for a crime totally separate from the first book's events. But it's so spaced apart in the nature of the story that it takes a long time to get to any kind of palpable stakes. And usually if Stark and Nikki get frustrated enough - default to the steamy scenes as a release. It felt like a formula that didn't really pay off. I will say that I still like Nikki's audacity and when she stands up for herself to call out Stark and others who challenge her, but I don't think there was anything substantial in this story to keep the ball rolling enough to pull me in. I felt I had to push myself through this more than I wanted to do so, and in the measure of reading, that lowered my experience of this novel than it should've.

I'm hoping it evens out more in the third book of the trilogy, because it ends on a promising note, but I'll admit I'm weary since there was so little offered in this part of the story. Here's to hoping, though.

Overall score: 1.5/5

Note: I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, from the publisher Bantam.
