I’ve never seen the program but I wanted a different kind of book to read and if I’m honest I actually really enjoyed this and I’m surprised!
Those girls make so many stupid mistakes but who doesn’t when they’re young, which made this very relatable. I dislike the parents from the bottom of my heart particularly Emily and Spencer’s parents, they just suck.
This book sucked me in from the get go, the mystery and suspense was just fantastic. I actually can’t wait to get the next book, first one I read on KU and the others aren’t

The start to this big series is a little slow. BUT the formatting of the books are really easy to read. You get a new perspective from Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer each chapter, which I love. By the end of the book, I was enticed by the many plot twists.
If you're also one of those people who have seen the television show, please know this series is so different. Pretty Little Liars stays loyal to the pilot of the show, but the more you read, the more shocked you will be!

Because I'm a teenage girl inside, I started watching the television show. Then, of course, I had to read the books. This would be a great beach/plane read. The girls are definitely more interesting in the books - and they're also more nuanced, I guess. They're worse people than portrayed on the show.
