This is one of Christie’s later psychological thrillers and not my sort of thing a much as her other types of books. It’s not bad tho.

An Ordeal by Innocence completely won me over, even though I’m not usually into mystery. The plot twists are so well-crafted and unexpected, and the vivid descriptions made it feel like I was watching a movie instead of reading. It’s a classic for a reason, and I’d highly recommend it—even if mystery isn’t your usual thing!

Not my favorite Christie, though interesting twists. It's fun how she became more of a romantic later in her life, probably due to her own romantic status.
I like that there is yet another hidden murder, someone was accused a long time ago, but he had an alibi that will come a long time later due to circumstances.
The resolution was a complete surprise, but I should have seen this one, it was plain in the clues. Oh well, another time Agatha wins me over.
The Argyles is a family built during the war of unwanted and orphaned kids. The parents have pampered them in any way possible but the mother really wanted to boss them around. And some of them ressented it. Others were content with it.
When someone kills the mother, one of the kids take the blame and dies in prision just before his alibi is found out to be true. And now it's important to find out the truth unless all the innocent will be held suspicious and their lives suspended.

A solid Christie mystery. No Poirot or Marple. This time one of the “sleuths ” is Arthur Calgary. Arthur is a geophysicist who returns from a lengthy time away to discover that he can provide an alibi for a man who unfortunately died in prison. Arthur goes to see this man’s family, thinking they will be thrilled to know that their loved one is innocent, but instead they are alarmed because now all in that household, know there is still a murderer living amongst them. Arthur sticks around and along with superintendent Huish( the original investigator) solves the crime. Along the way we get to know each member of this family. I gave this book 5 stars because I thought it was well paced, well written. Each person could’ve been the killer but the reader can also see how each person can be innocent. The title is perfect . as one of the characters says it’s not the guilty who matter it’s the innocent.
What I also appreciated about this book was at the beginning there was a list of the cast of characters so anytime I needed a refresher as to who someone was I could go to the front and read description. I wish more Christie novels had this feature.
This book was written in the 1950s . Christie keeps with “the times” of the roles of women and men. So when I’m giving my rating, I overlook a bit of that , she also has a tendency to finish her books up with a bit of surprise romance that often makes no sense. This book is no different. One can’t forget that Agatha also had a side career as a romance novelist.
If one wants a book that does not have one of the usual sleuths this is a good choice.

Interesting crime mystery that includes little action except what's in people's memories about a murder. Well-written and kept me guessing who the murderer was almost till the end.
