Although this book was a short one, just shy of 200 pages, it didn’t lack the emotional connection development that I feel like some short books do. My favorite parts of this book were the scenes where these two were able to learn more about one another, like the dart game with 21 questions, or the time they spent together on the ice. This one did fall a teensy bit short of the spice for me, only because it had a total of two scenes (one of them being in the epilogue) and I would’ve liked to have seen more of their explosive chemistry between the sheets. But, if this was the sacrifice made for the emotional connection scenes, then I’ll take it and keep my mouth shut.
As much as Duke comes off as a grump in their first run in, you can tell he has a soft spot for her in the meetings after. I thought it was a unique little twist on Charlie’s character that she used to play hockey as well, but because it never panned out to anything on a professional level, she decided to become a journalist instead in order to still be a part of the sports world.
It’s been a little while since I’ve devoured a book, but this one had a hold on me and left me hungry for more. I do see as the Blades Hockey series goes on, that each book gets a bit longer, so I’m excited to get a deeper feel into this author’s writing!

This story line had such great potential but it fell flat. The characters were not fully developed. The banter felt forced. The ending was cringy. Hopefully this series gets better.
Enjoyable quick read
I enjoyed this a lot. It was a fun quick read. It had good banter and I like that she had her own history with being a hockey player at college. The only thing that let it down was the ending. It felt a bit rushed. He went from being angry and annoyed to being all back together.

This was cute. Fast paced enough to hold my attention but I feel like we didn’t get to know the characters super well. Since I listened to the audiobook I can’t tell if it’s the book or the narrator, but there were some instances where the wrong word was used (registration instead of resignation) so it could’ve benefited from another pass by the editor.
Charlie the fmc came off a tad juvenile for being 26 and having been on her own since 17. She approached romance and sex kind of like a teenager.

Charlie and Duke's meeting and subsequent romance was entertaining and kept me turning the pages and wanting more. A great start to this series!
