➸ this was my third eloisa james and i have since given up on this author. she is not for me.

we have too many characters, and they start their story in this one, keeping so much of the attention away from the main couple.

the hero has a delusional stalker, the heroine has a quirky animal. there is telenovella worthy drama going on. and i was annoyed by everyone.

you'd think i'd learn my lesson and not buy complete series before trying the author. oh well, we live and we learn.

This was super cute -- Set in 1778, the third son of a Duke returns home to England from his world travels to discover that his travel diaries have made him a celebrity. It's all very awkward for him, especially when he meets a young woman who is decidedly NOT a fan. This romance developed slowly, and I loved some of the side characters. Already looking forward to future books in the series (this was the first). Fluff, but wonderfully gentle on the brain and on the heart. Just what this stressed out mama needed!

Wanted to like this more but it was just ok.

This is the ultimate in Mary Sue fantasies where the famous beautiful celebrity falls in love with you precisely because you haven't read any of his books and aren't interested in his celebrity.

Wilde in Love is book 1 in The Wildes of Lindow Castle series. I had to grab this book when I saw it was the start to a new series and I'm so glad I did! I fell in love with the characters so quickly and wound up adoring this book. If you're a fan of Historical Romance books that are swoon worthy, grab this book asap.

Lord Alaric Wilde, son of the Duke of Lindow has finally returned home from his adventures. He's written several novels detailing his travels and the different cultures he's encountered and it has left him with a large fan group much to his surprise. That could also be because someone has written a play of purely fiction about Lord Wilde that has all the ladies attention.

Miss Willa Ffynche is the picture perfect lady during her first season, but has a lovely rebellious streak in private with her friends. She wants nothing to do with Lord Alaric, but can't help being attracted by his alluring eyes. Of course, Alaric is intrigued by Willa, at first because she's the only woman in the room that wants nothing to do with him, but then because of her amazing personality and beauty. He's not going to let her get away and she doesn't want a gentleman that has all the spotlights on him. I couldn't wait to see how this would play out and to see if Alaric would be able to settle down in one place after traveling for so long.

Swoon worthy, Wilde in Love is a must read. I was instantly hooked by the plot and characters and couldn't get enough of the story. The characters are so engaging I'm having a hard time picking if Willa or Alaric was my favorite. The plot moved nicely without dragging and the romance aspect was sizzling. If you're a fan of Historical Romance you need to read this book, you can thank me later.

Great fun! The story was enjoyable, if a bit slow moving at times. Willa and Livinia were adorable, i wish we couldve spent more time with them together. The Livinia/Parth pairing was incredibly obvious, i dont need to look ahead in the series synopsis to know what's coming there.
The Wilde family was adorable, i wish I couldve seen their interactions with Willa more to make them all adoring her more cohesive feeling. It was clear Lady Knowe was familiar with her from the recently ended season, but the children were barely mentioned and other than being in the entry when she returned safe were never actually around. It all made that feel a bit hollow.
Overall, a great read that I could see myself picking up again for a revisit.

Eloisa James is always a delight to read and this adventure was no different. Clever character, witty dialog and a hilarious plot makes for a lovely read.

I enjoyed Wilde in Love, and my rating is hovering between three and four stars. I may upgrade later. Willa was great, and her friendship with Lavinia was one of my favourite parts of the book. I also adored Sweetpea and her moments of heroism. Alaric was quite likeable and his relationship with the rest of his family was also a highlight of the book. I think part of the reason my rating is hovering is that I wanted more of a resolution for Lavinia and Parth. There seemed to be a lot of set up for something that hasn't worked out yet. Oh well.

I know this is the first in the series but I can't say I love it as much as some of her other work. I thought the premise of an explorer coming home to find such unwanted fame was interesting. I had a lot of fun with the main characters especially Willa and her desire to find someone sedate and as private as herself. The melodrama about the play and the missionary's daughter was funny and I adored the American Sable. I think this series has a lot of potential but I cannot say I am thrilled with the author's note at the end saying each installment will end on a cliff hanger.
