This is my first Eloisa James book and it did not disappoint. Kept me gripped from page one, an interesting premise for a historical romance novel. Alaric is one of the Wilde children and is back in England after travelling the world and writing books about his experiences. Willa debuted last season and is attending a party at the Wilde estate to celebrate Alaric’s brother’s engagement. Alaric and Willa seem like complete opposites, but their witty repartee soon indicates otherwise. Great historical romance with some steamy scenes and a bit of suspense thrown in too!

The narrator did no favours for this book. It felt very robotic and I did not feel the chemistry between the characters.
Wilde in Love was filled with great characters and witty banter. Not only do you really enjoy Alaric and Willa, but the other characters really add to the story. Whenever an author can manage to make you have some kind of feelings towards almost all the characters, that is great as it draws the reader in more. Especially when kicking off a series. Though I predicted an incident that happened later in the book, I found that I enjoyed Wilde in Love and watching Willa and Alaric's story unfurl.
2.5-3 stars
This was my first Eloisa James book and from everything I've heard, I don't think I started with the right book. WILDE IN LOVE just didn't hit any excitement buttons for me. In fact, I read it over a few weeks, dipping in and out, keeping up with the story but not getting truly drawn in.
The story itself has potential with a hero that felt a bit unusual to me in historical romance. Alaric Wilde was an 'Indiana Jones' of his day but as interested in people of distant countries as he was relics. I really liked the idea of Alaric but I didn't fully connect with him. Alaric returns to England and everyone is wowed by him (but me?) but I loved that Willa wasn't wowed by him either. I liked Willa most of the time and was most engaged by her out of all the characters in the book.
I can't exactly put my finger on what the problem was with this read but I think it was a combination of the story line and lack of connection with Alaric because I found myself bored. I will press on and try something else of Eloisa James as I have heard great things about her writing. Sadly, I can't enthusiastically recommend this book.
A copy of this book was provided by the publisher through Edelweiss, in return for a honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It was more anticlimactic than my usual reads and was actually kind of a nice change as a result. I'm definitely looking forward to North and Diana's story; I wasn't expecting North's choice at the end of this book so I look forward to reading more of his perspective. Alaric and Willa were a fun couple; I loved their banter.
Yippee! a new series. This one is set in the Georgian period, which I havent seen being published much lately. Lord Alaric Wilde has traveled the wrld and written very popular books about his experiences. Miss Willa Ffynche turns her nose up at his "make believe" stories. How can a miss who wants to lead a private life deal with the wildly famous adventerer and author? Fun book with great characters.

I found it really hard to get past the narrator's intonation to hear the story - I enjoy an accent different to my own, but the voice artist consistently raised the pitch of her voice to end sentences and I found out difficult to move past it.
