I liked this book quite much. I liked the idea, and maybe that's why I got a bit disappointed with the result. I think a better author would make this plot and this book into something huge. Too bad that didn't happen. I also think it was a great mistake to continue the series. It should've just been one book.

Okay I really need the next one! :D An Angel I mean really? This is too much.

Let me start by saying that I can never find any character called Patch sexy in any way. Going from there, this book is poor both in terms of writing and publicizing. The central concept of Nora/Patch's relationship is highly suspect. Neither character is well developed, the plot often doesn't make any sense and is only semi-explained as the plot ties up. The major plot point, ruined by the publicizing/publishing decisions of cover art/blurb, that Patch is a fallen angel is hastily drawn in the last 50 pages of the book. Why not have planed the plot a bit better, spent the first 50-100 pages developing your characters' relationship with each other, plant a touch of mystery and then deal the paranormal aspect earlier? Instead it's not revealed until page 300 or so who Patch really is. Plus, Patch never once comes across as loving or attractive at any point. Nora is attracted solely to his dangerousness (I mean he's trying to kill her for the entire book). I don't know that this is healthy for anyone of any age, but the hastily drawn character of Nora who is 16, emotional vulnerable with a horrible best friend, a dead father and an absent mother, a lust for a dangerous killer boyfriend seems especially unwarranted. All of the normal support systems that you might like to see, a male friend who secretly loves her and supports her through everything, the school counselor, her mother, her female best friend, all absent or unhelpful in this book.

The reason I picked up this book was because I saw it in a list of books noted for their “sexual tension.” As a romantic and avid fan of the slow burn, I thought I’d give it a try.
Perhaps it’s because I’m not a teenager anymore, but I personally wasn’t very invested in the story or it’s characters. I don’t mean that it was a bad story, there were certainly twists and turns that kept me guessing until the climax of the plot. I just think this book would be more enjoyable for someone who is still in their high school years with imaginations that could run away with this story properly. I am just not the target audience, and that’s ok.
I will say, while reading this book I was given pleasant reminders of my own youth. I can’t say I ever went to billiards rooms or spent late nights at the library with friends, but Hush Hush did invoke a nostalgia for when the concept of that kind of independence - sometimes at the expense of parental guardians - was fresh and sexy.
If you’re post college, this book might not be for you. But teenagers? Revel in the mystery, the rebellion, the conflict of the heart vs the mind. I hope you enjoy it.

I didn't dislike it but it was a totally forgettable book. I didn't feel like staying in the world or that I wanted more out of the characters. Not bad for a boring sunday evening, but probably won't read it again.

I gave it 3 stars because the end surprised me. I guess I will read the second to see if it surprises me again.

Overall I did enjoy Hush, Hush more than I thought I would. I was disappointed the love story was lacking more action, but in the end I feel it was okay that the author did not rush Patch and Nora falling in love. It was obvious the author is riding off of the Twilight good girl meets dangerous, bad boy, but she did not over do it. I feel the story was rushed and certain parts of the plot needed to be explained more. Action scenes were part of the plot I feel should have been expanded and a little more thought out. I do not understand why Nora's mom and dad storyline received so much attention because it confused me more than anything. I enjoyed Nora being a strong character, but again I feel the author should have risked making the story longer to explain her personality and decisions more. Patch was a character I loved. I wish Nora would have hurried up and made up her mind instead of making me dizzy by going back and forth so much. I enjoyed Vee a lot and I hope Nora's friendship with her lasts.
