This book started off promising with so much potential to be a great read. I really enjoyed each character's backstory, especially the adult children's and the emotions and feelings each were experiencing as they all go through their individual crises. However, their personal dramas were BECAUSE of EACH OTHER, yet the author didn't really allow them to communicate with each other to resolve anything and it felt like conversations that were vital for their healing were avoided, even to the bitter end. Everything felt rushed at the end, the author wanting to tie everything neatly in a bow but topics like suicide and heartbreak require a lot more depth that this book clearly didn't have.

One of the worst things I've ever read. Should have DNFed at like 20%. Not redeeming for any of the characters at all.
One of those books where I rushed through it so it would just be over.

This was Reese Witherspoon's March 2020 pick. It was a good read.

Different than the typical beach read! I loved this premise. The slightly darker tinge than most books that are similar. Loved the cruise ship moments of course. Has a lot of heart. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I wanted to lean into some of the stories more. I really think this could have been longer!

I liked this book! Cord and Regan were my favourite characters. I think a lot of people will relate to feeling they don’t fit in with their family.

I really wanted to like this book but was left disappointed. It picked up about three quarters of the way through, but landed flat. There were some plot holes and things just didn’t flow in a natural way.

This is one of those books that just leaves you indifferent at the end. I did not hate it enough to not continue reading, but I did not love it enough to want to finish it quickly. This is about a story that truly does not enjoy being together. They go on a trip and as a result they learn so much of eachother. The author created an incredibly relatable story about how a family deals with hard subjects like suicide, alcoholism, and abandonment. I wanted a little more from this book, but it was good for what it was: a beach read.

Very fun. Exemplifies aspects of society that aren't so pleasant to acknowledge (trying to fit in and do the Right Thing) well.
