Beautiful. This book got me out of a reading hiatus. I loved every page. I don't think any book boyfriend compares to Jack Hawthorne. If I could I would rate this book 6/5
I basically skimmed through the last few chapters of the book because it just got boring. The book started off nice but there's nothing really catchy or interesting about the mcs, they were just meh.
Okay I found both the mcs unrelatable, the way they got together was also very unrealistic and I even giggled in disbelief reading it. I personally feel like Rose forgave Jack too easily, like yeah he did it for her own good blah blah blah but he still manipulated her and idk I just think she should have made him grovel harder. Him serving her the divorce papers was a crazy twist I'll admit but still wasn't his biggest fan reading that. Overall nothing memorable here

3.75/4
I thought the first half of this book was close to the five stars. However, I think once the slow-burn was over, I was disappointed by their connection. I was expecting a bit more and I thought the conflict cleared up a bit too fast. I wanted to see more of Jack's POV, etc.
I love Rose and Jack as characters (though I think Jack could've had a bit more personally), I think the build up fell a little flat. It was overall an enjoyable story.
Also, is there a Sally/Owen story? I'd love to read that lol.

I really liked the way the two main characters interacted during their fake relationship. Fake relationships is one of my favorite tropes, but it can be easily ruined depending on how the characters are with each other. This book was also peppered in with a healthy dose of grumpy/sunshine dynamics, which was also done really well. I loved the will-they-won't-they throughout the story and I loved seeing Jack warm up to Rose and absolutely melted when he was helping her deal with her anxieties with going to the doctor and all the stress that was weighing on her. Seeing that kind of comfort just warms my heart like nothing else.
The only thing that made me take away a star was the reveal at the end of the story when Jack confessed the real reason he married her. I won't give it away, but it felt hugely unrealistic and out of character based on what I knew about Jack from the rest of the book. Overall though, I thought this was a nice warm hug of a romance where a grumpy guy warms up to his ray of sunshine fake wife.

Slow burn marriage of convenience goodness with a grumpy hero. Ah, I really enjoyed this one.
Ugh… you know.. this book has one of my favorite tropes and had so much potential but it just did not deliver it.
Rose see herself in a marriage of convenience with Jack. She inherited a spot in Madison ave where she could open her bakery shop, but only if she was married.. and the spot would be for her husband.. not her (ugh.. started terribly). Jack is a lawyer that wanted to get married to her bc he wanted the property which they agreed would be his after 2 years (again.. what the hell)
So.. the premise was so misogynistic.. but let’s continue..
he is grumpy and she is all sunshine. We learned in the middle of the book that she has a disease (and for a moment I thought they would pull a Nicholas Sparks on me but thankfully they didn’t). With the time and all obstacles they started to warm up to each other. The big problem is that actually her ex-fiancé was involved in this story. The conflict with the ex-fiance was so boring.. he could have been an amazing villain but he just appeared 3 times and it didn’t feel like a threat at all. Additionally, the groveling during the third act breakup was not much.. like.. why even break it off it it wouldn’t be dramatic.
Additionally all Jack’s POVs were bland. He should be yearning a lot for her since he is grumpy and hides his feelings (during her POVs), but he was just unseasoned hahaha
I almost dnf’ed bc it was so freaking predictable.. I just didn’t bc I thought that maybe when the tropes I was expecting came it would be nice.. but it wasn’t.

I finished this book yesterday, but I've had such a difficult time rating this book. Some parts were 4 stars. Some parts 1 star. In the end I settled on 2, as it mostly was just an okay read.
The beginning was a bit odd and rough, but I was quite enjoying it. I liked their interactions. But I just lost interest after a while. I try to avoid books with
On top of that, there was also the big reason/secret.
I liked them at first, but the evolution of their relationship made me lose interest and made me like both characters a little less. When the 'big secret' comes out, it's resolved too quickly and honestly, I had lost interest already.
Their romance is a very very slow burn. It takes forever for them to get together. It's also a really long book. I regret devoting so much time to this in the end.

an illness, unless I specifically choose to read one. I'm not a fan of books who just throw that at you, unexpectedly. Also, it was just pretty gross to constantly read about her dripping nose. It felt like her illness was used as a plot device. It usually is ofcourse, but it was just a tad too obvious here. And I started to lose interest. On top of that, there was also the big reason/secret

which was completely lame. He just wanted her for himself so he pressured her to marry him. He paid off her ex fiance to disappear. He paid of her relatives who randomly and oddly keep showing up. The tension in the beginning was so good and the family/ ex-fiancé plots had so much potential but towards the end it got predictable (but not in an enjoyable way). Saccharine, unnecessarily long & a bit boring.
