I can't believe I'm saying this, but DNF at around 50%

^^My feelings about dnf-ing. I'm sorry, but this one was soooooooo long and unfortunately I was bored. The back and forth between the characters became too much for me, yes this is happening, no it isn't happening. It was all muddled to me.

I still love your books Pepper Winters! This one just wasn't for me :(

As far-fetched and difficult to believe the first two books were, Twisted Together is utterly absurd and a tad ridiculous. I was excited about the premise of this story - a girl kidnapped on her vacation in Mexico with her fiancée and sold to slavery to a sadistic master? Who would not want to read this kind of an erotic novel? But as exciting the first book was, as disappointing and non-exciting is this one. I can honestly say that I enjoyed reading parts of it - the parts that did not seem sappy and over-sentimental and completely unbelievable - though such parts were kind of scarce. After reading the first book, I never would have thought sappy would be the word I would use to describe anything in this series. But here it is, folks. All in all, I am sure all of us expected a fairy-tale ending and a fairy-tale ending we got. It is a beautiful love story if you do not think about things like reality check and logic and such and it is a very easy (slavery, being sold - easy-peasy, right?) read with some very enjoyable intimate scenes. Come to think of it, making such a hard topic into such a romantic story full of love and devotion and loyalty is not bad at all!

After finishing Quintessentially Q, I didn't things could get any worse. But I was wrong; so wrong. Again Q and Tess's relationship is pushed to the limits. How these two make their relationship survive after everything is beyond me. But I guess that is the magic of these books.

Q and Tess finally got the happy ever after that I have been waiting for. Their wedding was just perfect and totally them.

I was a bit unsure starting Twisted Together since it is twice as long as the other books in the series, but it was so worth it. I loved everything about this book.

There's no sense in beating around the bush, this was poorly written.

Twisted Together feels like a drawn out fan-fiction. The characters are under-developed, immature, and cartoony. The plot was a clusterfuck. Everything propelling this story forward was revolved around kinky sex and kidnapping. The sexy parts...kinda intense, but sure I'm cool with that, bring it on. BUT how many mother fucking times can someone be kidnapped in one series? I mean once, sure I get it, but two, three, four times later?
On top of the "regular" kidnappings Tess endures through the series, one of the times Q decides to kidnap/drug Tess to in order to play therapist, and then later the lucky bastard gets kidnapped himself.
Really? It's fine...I get it...the author must not know how to write anything else. I swear, everything in this story is repetitive.

Nothing seems grounded in reality, because it isn't. I could go on and on about the lack of logic behind every plot point, but I won't. I could dive into how unhealthy this relationship is, but I won't. I could mention all of the ways the main characters became unlikable, but I won't. The whole thing was a train wreck that I somehow couldn't look away from.

That being said, some of the reading experience was fun...until the last chunk of the book. Things got corny really quickly. I fully admit that there were parts of this book that were fun to hate and maybe that's what this boils down to...a guilty pleasure hate read.

Something that I did actually like was that we got POVs from both Tess & Q. Reading from Q's perspective proved to be interesting. The smut was decent, but even that started to take on a ridiculous vibe. I don't know, I wish there was something deeper going on here. It's a fine read if you just want some BDSM smut, but I think I was expecting a bit more from this. I enjoyed the first book way more, even though it definitely had it's flaws, it wasn't as over-the-top cheesy as this one was.

Unbelievably well written! Pepper Winters is the master of contrast between light and dark, the advocate of all things gray. This final chapter of the Monsters in the Dark series is simply a masterpiece on survival and perseverance. This is nothing less than a MUST READ.

A satisfying ending to this trilogy. It was a great read but after the midway point it started to drag up until the wedding, which was a fantastic and unique event. Did take me quite a while to get through this because of the drag in the middle though but an overall solid read.
