A reread for me but this series will never cease to be enjoyable for me. Great characters, perfect pacing. Love Patty's writing!

Bran's world is dark

You need to read the short story that comes before this "Alpha & Omega" and it helps to have read the Mercy Thompson books. This book gives me a whole new flavor to Bran, Charles and Samuel. And Anna is a good addition if a slight Mary Sue.

Good, but you should definitely read the prequel.

I am fascinated with Charles and Adam. I also liked Anna. It is a very enjoyable read.

The book just plummeted after the initial meeting. The whole vibe of the book was just so maudlin.

I'm confused by the description of this book. It sounds like the plot of the prequel. Cry Wolf picks up after the action in the description. In Cry Wolf Anna and Charles leave Anna's pack and go to Charles'. Charles has already killed the alpha of Anna's old pack and saved her from them. When they get to Charles' pack they have a run-in with a witch from one of the werewolves' past and it takes a lot of effort to resolve the situation.

Cry Wolf is a good book. I enjoyed the characters, the plot, and the writing.

If you're leery of supernatural books, the kinds with werewolves and witches practicing black magic, etc, don't let this book fool you. This book is so much more than magical creatures. Why is it that supernatural books are the ones that handle the topic of sexual abuse better than any other genre I've read? Anna is a fragile character, but she survived three years of sexual abuse. Survived, and wants to learn how she can heal some of those wounds in order to try a relationship with Charles, who is head-over-heels in love with her.

I loved the metaphor of Brother Wolf as the survival instinct we all have. When Anna feels threatened, such as the first time she tries to be intimate with Charles, her wolf comes "into ascendance;" essentially, she pulls on a deeper strength in order to swallow the timidity, fear, nausea that comes from anyone touching her. All because she wants it to work with Charles. I also loved that as the Omega wolf, her strength was in bringing out the best in others.

Read this book for an entertaining, gripping story that starts off running and continues at a loping pace. Read it for a tactful treatment of the aftermath of sexual abuse and the wish for a healthy, equal relationship. Another book to check out, if interested in another fascinating treatment of the same topic, is Robin McKinley's Deerskin.

Plot or Character Driven: Plot

I am not sure how the author wrote a book which made me feel so little for plot and characters. Plot was fine. Grumpy I had to find the prequel novella after starting this book to really understand what's going on. Felt like the audiobook started in the middle of the book.

Alright I had no idea there were such good werewolf books out there! This one definitely flew to the top of my list because it was amazing! The story started off a bit confusing and it wasn't until a couple hundred pages in that I got the full gist of the plot and what exactly was going on. But looking back, I liked the way that happened because you pieced things together yourself, and start off hesitant and confused like the characters.

The author really did her research on the surrounding environment in Montana because I could clearly imagine the landscape and thick underbrush of the trees and forest as Anna and Charles walked through. I loved the Native American culture attached to Charles and the pack, and the way he's described through Anna's eyes. It was refreshing for a change to see that there was no instalove (as in so many YA paranormal series) or a quick change in romance a couple pages into the story from Anna and Charles' relationship. Everything is rough and territorial and downright "who's more dominant and manly" about these wolves but honestly I think that's the way it would be.

The pacing was nice, things were suddenly happening but when it comes to the paranormal that's not surprising. You get a ton of different paranormal references, from the werewolves (obviously) to ghosts and spirits, wizards and witches. Wow. I cannot wait to see what else is thrown at me and how much more world building will come from all these supernatural beings! Loved!
