I really like Brigg's stories. I think the pack mentality is very interesting, and I like the intricate relationships between the characters. This is a very good start to what I hope is a good series.

You might want to find and read the prequel to really understand what anna has gone through. but you kinda get glimpses throughout the book anyway so it really is not absolutely necessary. But it gives you more insight to this book.
Anyway, If you have read Mercedes "Mercy" Thompson Series and looking for a fix of her world... well I recommend this book. If you haven't read that series... you have two choices. 1) Read this series First, or 2) Read the Mercy Thompson series first. They mention each other so you may as well know what you are getting into. Either way i recommend you read both series'.

Anna is an Omega, Omegas are rare in the Werewolf community. She is learning what it is to be omega whilst recovering from abuse and dealing with a mate (and what it means to have a mate).
I admire her and her hidden strength( which she is still discovering). you get glimpses of it and when you do you feel triumphant that your faith in her wasn't misplaced.

ok, so i've told you a little bit about one character. I won't give you a rundown of all the characters, as it really would spoil the book.
so go on dip your toe into this world.... i promise you... you will not want to leave!

The entire plot was pretty weak. But I don't understand how the witch is so powerful and then loses to an untrained Omega instantly. It was a cheap way to end the book, not a satisfying ending.

I really like Anna and Charles, but Mercy will always have the first place in my heart. And I liked learning more about Bran... even if some parts of his scenes were less impressive than I'd hoped. But that was part of the urgency of the story. Anna, and Charles too, are new favorites. :)

Fun little adventure. I'll be interested to see where Briggs' concept of an Omega wolf goes from here.

I really did like this and I think eventually will go on with the rest, buttttt I don't want to say this book was slow, but it was steady??? Does that make sense lolol. I do like that it is so confusing, which sounds weird but I like to be my own private investigator and try to figure out what is going to happen
adventurous fast-paced

I really enjoy the way this author writes! I first picked up one of her books, The Raven series, many years ago and while I don’t remember a lot of details i remember the love I had for the series. I knew the Mercy Thompson books were out there but I wanted to wrap up a couple series before I dived into a new one and while I am still working through that series I decided to start this.

When I really like an author I don’t tend to read what a book is about before just diving in, so I was happily surprised to discover I’d be reading about Charles and his mate.

There was a definite buildup from the beginning of the book to the end with the FMC, her relationship with her mate, learning about omegas and what it means, and just learning more about a healthier pack life. There was also a progression of her being scared and intimidated but working through that to the point she is the one who ends up rescuing the men.

I’m kind of sad Walter was killed off so quickly. I definitely found myself wanting more time to get to know him. I also feel like the build up to the final battle was unbalanced compared to the ease with which she was ultimately killed. It’s beautiful she was punched in the face and knocked out but it just felt like there should’ve been a little bit of struggle between FMC and the witch before the knockout and death.

I am also picking up on a theme of petty, underhanded, passive-aggressive women in the different series. I don’t mind women being villains or having an antagonistic role in a story but I do find myself feeling frustrated when a pattern starts to emerge of women who fit a more misogynistic take on how women in certain roles behave.
