So parts were good, lines were witty, but I got bored and skimmed a lot. I also must have an awful moral threshold, because I didn't particularly care that a date rapist got beat up the way Sophie did. Also, I was a lot more interested in the side pairing then the main pairing THAT WAS RUINED WHEN HE TURNED INTO BAD EVIL, NOT ACCEPTABLY HOT EVIL!!!!! Still, I might pick up the sequel just to laugh at the upcoming love triangle.

I really enjoy this book, I didn't think I'd like it at first and I never expected the storyline to be what it was. It has action, drama, suspense, sass and romance all rolled together!
(And it proves: never underestimate the quiet ones!)

Sophie 'Persephone' I love, she is super shy but takes no shit from anyone. I like how curious she is and how she won't let anything slobs until she's got to bottom of it all. And I like the strange love/hate relationship she has with Luca. I liked that even more than the main guy in Sophie's vision.

Nic 'Nicoli' on the other hand, I love that he has so much love for his family and everything that comes with that. And I like that he tries his darnedest to stay away from Sophie, but just can't; even though he should. In the end I'm glad that he opens up and sticks by her, in his own weird way. But I'm betting he's jealous of his brother now!

Without giving away spoilers, I'm glad that the secret held in Nic & Luca's family was there because it was a change in how characters usually meet. I've never known it to be under those kind of circumstances.
The storyline flowed well and the characters were written wonderfully!

I can't wait for book two!

"Aren't you glad I have no respect for your authority?

This was such an interesting read. The story was full of twists and turns. So I got others shocked me. The story focuses on Persephone 'Sophie' Gracewell. She is a young girl about to turn 17yrs old and is the town outcast. This has been since her dad got sent to prison for murder 18mths prior to the story. Her life is going one way until the arrive of five brothers (who are extremely handsome and mysterious). I enjoyed this and can't wait to start book 2.

So overall I really enjoyed this even with its ups and downs it was a really good book with an organized crime theme. I liked most of the characters though the ones I liked best were Sophie and Nic both were pretty complex and interesting character and I liked their relationship for the most part it had its ups and downs. What I really liked about Sophie I liked that she was a down to earth pretty much normal girl before things got crazy and she pretty wanted answers for many things that just did not add up. I really did like the relationship between Sophie and Nic they had a really good connection the romance was pretty much a Romeo and Juliet story from start to finish. I really liked the plot it started as a connection between a boy and a girl went into a story about revenge and a mystery that was slowly unraveled. So overall I really liked this book will finish the series sometime soon.

A massive thank you to the author for sending this book to me. I won this in a giveaway and I'm so glad that I did.

Cute guys, a forbidden romance, family feuds and revenge. What more could you ask for?
Vendetta is book 1 in a saga. It's got the feel to Romeo and Juliet but it also has its own dose of spices.
I love Nic and Luca.
The romance scenes were very steamy.
I was addicted and found it hard to put down.
This is one book you need to pick up!
I need the next book in my life.

I really think this as a new adult book would've had more oomph. Still interested to see where it goes.

3.5*

I really enjoyed this. This mafia/Romeo and Juliet-esque story. It was really cute. Cute in a mafia way, obviously. I can't wait to read the rest. Oh and I low key love Luca, the underboss.

3.5 stars

I highly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the sequel. However, it was not perfect. Some problems I had with it was the
Spoiler mafia
thing was kinda of obvious. Another is Sophie's reaction or lack thereof to the
Spoiler attempted rape
was a little weird. I know people respond differently, but in this book it seems to be more of a device in order to show how violent Nic can be rather then a major plot point.
Finally, when Sophie finds out that the
SpoilerFalcone's family are mafia, Nic kind of info dumps a lot of background information in order to justify what they are, and she has a momentary reaction before kind of just going with it.

Loved it <3 <3

Vendetta, by Catherine Doyle was a fantastic read. Before I read this book, I was intrigued by the blurb. I've never read anything about the mafia (or at least I think I didn't). The book itself was a bit disappointing, but I still liked it, hence the three stars.

The book started off pleasantly, there was not much action, but it was still interesting enough for me to carry on reading. I found it all very amusing, and actually burst out laughing when a cat coincidentally "hurtled" in front of Sophie. When I read up to the part where she met Nic and Luca formally in the restaurant, I was literally doing this:

Because, it was pretty cliche.

At first I found Nic seriously weird, because he was too nice to Sophie. When his... ah... darker side was revealed, he immediately became a much more convincing character. And then there was also Luca (he has the same name as my Physics teacher, which is pretty awkward as I kept on imagining my physics teacher whenever "Gianluca" was mentioned). He acted like he really hated Sophie- AND for no reason. It was as if he was going through several mood swings or something. But he turns out to be a generally nice guy, who shows more restraint than Sophie's love interest when it comes to beating people up.

As I mentioned before, I was supremely excited about the mafia aspect of this book. After reading this book, I just felt as if the mafia aspect was not very well incorporated. It simply didn't feel real. I did not feel any excitement, or fear, or any emotion really, regarding the Mafia. In this book, the mafia is kind of like an important although distant figure, who does have an certain, small impact on your life, but is not intricately involved in your daily activities... if you get what I mean. Basically, the mafia was not even hinted upon until... two thirds into the book? Even though it's supposed to be a major part of the story. I would have liked to learn more about the Mafia, and the huge role it plays in the Falcone's lives.

On a side note, this book is supposed to be a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet. In the book, Sophie is obviously supposed to be Juliet. To be very honest, I couldn't clearly identify who was supposed to be Romeo. I'm guessing Nic, but I also feel like it could be Luca. Hmm... it depends.

Vendetta was a great book. Now go read it!!!! ;)
