In 1996 I was embarking upon a new career in massage therapy and fell in love with a beautiful young woman doing the same. She loved this book, but had been the victim of her mother's abuse, had low self esteem and a serious lisp, and had passed her GED by one point (how she got through a massage school is inexplicable, though when you pay $5000 to those fly by night outfits in the pre-certification era, they made sure to help you pass, even if it took several attempts at $250 a crack).

Well, I have to say that unfortunately I read this piece of garbage. It played no small part in our break up, which broke her heart forever because she thought we would go into business together and live happily ever after.

The only thing worse since then has been Eckhart Tolle.

Not sure why people think this is a true story?! James Hadley Chase thriller meets Eastern mysticism and optimistic spirituality. Whilst the plot is bigger than the characters in it, this was a good airport read that tries to weave an Indiana Jones adventure as people figure out the various tenets of a secret manuscript that talks about the philopsophical evolution of mankind and redefines love. Was recommended the book by a close friend and whole lot of love right back at you :D The discovery of nine insights sorta remind you of a Dan Brown hangover.

While I don’t hate the concepts in this book, I hate the way it was written. I would have much rather read this information in a self-help style.

Ova me knjiga baš navela na razmišljanje. Kroz roman je prožeo različita razmišljanja o životu i o tome kako bismo se trebali odnositi prema samom sebi i prema ljudima oko nas da bi nam život bio bolji.

Well the writing is bad as is the story telling. I thought initially it was a non-fiction until they started shooting at each other and I had to put it down.

Bagi gue...bukunya 'OK'. Tapi mungkin juga karena usia gue waktu baca buku ini (19). Jadi ada sebagian yang 'I just didn't get' (hmmm...ato emang gue aja kali yah yang ngga ngerti).

Well...this book made me think about our way of life, though the philosophy may be too deep for me to grasp at the time.

I may try and read it again one day...

I read this book at the peak of it's popularity in 1994. I recall not being able to figure out if it was fiction or non-fiction (pre-internet and perhaps I couldn't tell by how the book was classified on the back cover?) Kurt Cobain's suicide sucked me into a nihilistic whirlpool of despair and prevented me from believing any of this crap. Thanks, Kurt!

first book of 2023!

i would like to first note that i completely understand the valid criticisms that the plot and characters were far too simple. however, i would still recommend this book because i feel as though its overall message is quite insightful.

personally, i intend to incorporate some of the insights’ ideals into my own life and i would argue that others would be able to immensely improve themselves if they did, too.

so, if you’re looking for a book that requires low-moderate reading comprehension skills with a meaningful message, i would definitely recommend this book!
