A page turner.
The storyline was okay. It was a good read, but you sort of knew what would happen in the end.

At least you know what you are getting when you pick up a Dirk Pitt novel. And this one delivered the expected wild plot, techno babble, multiple bizarrely impractical coincidences required to drive the story forward, a heroic save and death for the bad guys. This time the bad guys are rogue Chinese military intent on attacking the US and Taiwan, while Dirk Pitt and his trusty sidekick, Al Giordino, stumble into the middle of things and save the world. Quite a fun, fast read.

If you're looking for underseas adventures, this is the series for you. I'd never read anything by Clive Cussler, so decided to try this one. It was exciting, but I prefer more complex characters and fewer nautical details.

The is the story with a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter. Will they survive how can the escape. Turn the page. oh that was easy. I have read 20 of the 26 books and they all are by the script but enjoyable

This was Dirk Pitts first outing following Clive Cussler‘s passing. Written by his son (Dirk Cussler) who has been a collaborator for the last several of the Dirk Pitt series, this novel follows the same formula that’s been successful for the last 25 Dirk Pitt novels. My only gripe about most of the series as a whole is how many coincidences the plot relies on but that doesn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book itself. Since Clive‘s passing I’ve been nervous about what the future of the series would look like even though I know Dirk would carry on his fathers legacy well. My opinion is that it’s in good hands. And I’m not gonna lie, when Mr. Clive and his dachshund showed up and helped save the sinking NUMA ship there were some tears.
