Raven was dead; everyone had seen her sister stab her in the stomach; or at least that's what the world thought they saw. But, in reality, she's actually been alive the entire time and in hiding in the most ruthless of factions. Now, she's been found and in a cruel twist of fate thrown into the most wicked, twisted, and sadistic reality game show anyone could ever come up with.
Out of the 250 contestants, including Raven, only five can be announced the winners.
What are they playing for? They are playing to win, they are playing for their lives.
To Raven, she has no intention of losing. That's not in her plans, and it's just not an option. She's going to win this game, even if that means she has to enlist the help of several strange and suspicious looking men who don't deserve forgiveness and who she knows she should not forgive no matter what. But, as in with life, help often comes with strings attached.
Cut Her Strings is Hunger Games meets Saw. It's a dark why-choose where Raven has multiple love interests, and thankfully, she doesn't have to choose between them.
YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Know your limits and know your triggers and ALWAYS read the TW/CW. In this book that includes but is not limited to: dub-con, off page assault, brief reference of child abuse, attempted graphic suicide & suicide on page, torture, death, gore, and murder, loss of loved ones, explicit sexual content.
And please remember that all these men are morally grey. There are no heroes in this series. Even though you are going to want to make heroes out of any of our MMCs DON'T, they are not heroes.
I don't think I will ever be able to understand fully how Sage RelleAnne's mind really works. I thought that I understood her mind once, and now I just don't know. She has created another world that is just beyond comprehension.
This dystopian masterpiece is part Hunger Games mixed with Saw, adding in some Squid Games just for the fun of it and then add in The Lottery for the darkest and most sinister parts of the games.
Being thrown into the games, Raven's life is extended by forces beyond her knowledge, and she has no idea who is pulling her strings.
Like everyone else in the game, the Host is just as mysterious as he/she is wearing a mask and the show is meant to enforce showing the country who's boss and it also help's to take care of all the undesirable's in the eye's of who ever runs the game. Entering the “arena” we find that everyone is in one way or another interconnected with each other, and Raven finds that somehow she is at the center or everything. She is surprised to learn that her life means more to those around her than it means to her. And it means even more to all the men in her main group than anyone else.
I loved exploring how Raven was raised and her upbringing and how her sister became Nightingale and how Raven became who she was in the end. And as unhealthly as her upbringing as it was, it was still page turning. Even learning about her past romances keeps your eyes pulled on the pages. All I can say is Be. Prepared.
Then there's that ending. Oh. My. God! When you start putting it all together. Raven's past with the present and all the scenes that you've read, and you realize just who is who. Oh. Wow! I need book 2 NOW! I need to know what happens next. I can't wait to read it. If you have enjoyed Sage RelleAnne's other books, then you will enjoy this book.

I really enjoyed the concept of this book with the Hunger Games meets Saw type challenges. The storyline and world building were both easy to follow and also interesting. It was often slightly confusing to fully comprehend some of the game rules & also hard to keep up with the numbers of the players with there being so many of them- but the more I read, the easier it was to keep up. I do wish there was more angst/tension/time regarding the FMC and the men she meets throughout the challenges, but that may just be a me problem because I don’t enjoy insta-love (or insta-lust, I guess.)

Overall this book kept me on the edge of my seat and made me not want to put it down! The game challenges were very unique and I never knew what was going to happen. I also really enjoyed reading all of the different POV’s, especially the Host’s. The ending kinda threw me for a loop and I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet…. I will definitely be reading the 2nd book to get some answers on that though!

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily & honestly.

This is a very well written book except for a really slow part (for me) in the middle which is difficult when it’s as short as it is.

Also ultimately this ended up being a little too dark for me.

However if you like this kind of darkness in your books I think you’ll enjoy this.

A hunger games meets saw with a why choose situation!
This book is incredible with some spice but the plot is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Im going to make sure there are no spoilers beause YOU NEED TO READ THIS!! NO IF'S NO BUT'S OR MAYBE'S
READ IT!!!

FMC has a disturbing past. Thinking all hope is lost she tries to end it. But doesn't succeed and is thrown into a game with the last person she expected and finds 100% more than she ever expected.
The books main POV is FMC, with the host and several other POV's added in.
This book captures you and takes you on a wild ride that makes you feel like you are in it with the players..

Congratulations to Sage on this incredible book!
I REALLY HOPE THERES MORE BECAUSE THAT ENDING HAS LEFT MY HEART RACING!

“Why was I always left alone, and they came back to me a little bit more broken every time.”

“Cut her Strings,” by Sage Relleanne

The world thought Raven was dead, but she is secretly working as an assassin until she was thrown into a deadly reality show. There are two hundred and forty-nine other contestants with only five being allowed to survive. Raven is determined to be one of those five, even if it means teaming up with dangerous men with dark pasts.

This was an interesting book; it was short which I didn’t like. I really wanted more because I was very invested in the story. It was sadistic like saw but with trails like the Hunger games, a really good dark twist on these types of books. It’s a reverse harem with dangerous and sexy men. 4 out of 5 stars.

Thank you for the ARC, Booksprout.

I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

Oh, my stars – what did I just read? This book was action packed and a roller coaster of twists and turns. I was hooked from the beginning and finished this book in one day! I love a good dystopian story. Throw in a badass FMC, compelling MMC’s and make it a why choose? Oh yeah, I’m going to gobble this one up!

The world building was well thought out and intriguing. The character development was amazing, and I found myself invested in all of them. The plot was intense. I never knew from one page to the next what was going to happen and what new twist was about to unfold.

The games were creative and intense, and the rules were explained well. I loved the cheat sheet for the players, games and rules. I think Game 3 was my favorite!

The book is written mostly in first person from Raven’s POV. The other characters were in third person POV. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would like this format but for this book it really worked.

And that cliffhanger??!!?? Really?? That was how you wanted to end the first book? That was brutal! I quickly flipped pages hoping there was more and when I realized that was the end, my heart sank, and my jaw dropped. I need the next book ASAP!

I absolutely loved this book! Sage is a very talented author, and I can’t wait to read more from her. I would highly recommend this book and this author!

This book is like a cross of the hunger games and squid games meet the saw. It’s fantastic it a strong kick a$$ FMC.

This book was dark and twisted with a little bit of spice and a little bit stabby just how I like them. It’s a RH with why choose. It will keep you on the edge or you seat wondering what will come next with all its twist and turns, sit back and enjoy the ride.

I really don’t know how to rate this.

I really enjoyed the storyline and the vibe of the games very saw meets hunger games but I feel kinda handmaid tales with like the government and fractions.

But found it super hard to read. The book is in POV of our FMC Raven, but then there are chapters told in the 3rd person and that threw me. Also the numbers also confused me I had to re read a lot of it cause I’m like whooooooo? I also found myself re reading the games and the rules etc, I just couldn’t get my head around it all.

But am I going to read the next book, 100% and I need answers. And the spice, well that was chefs kiss.

I’m just in my head about how I feel about this book.
