This was a tired story with a femdom paint job with a pinch of incongruous wokeness. There’s a lot of eat the rich from our FMC but in the end demands a huge engagement ring… She’s a terrible character.
There’s absolutely no discussion of what our MMC wants/needs from this relationship and is putting it all in the hands of this inexperienced woman he’s asked to be a domme. There’s not even an illusion to a conversation. No rules, no expectations. Opens up for a lot of things to go wrong. Not that it matters because most of it happens off page or you start on the middle of it. With a concept that’s more erotic that a typical sugar daddy romance, you’d expect the story to reflect that. But it doesn’t.
I liked our MMC, despite him being a commonly used archetype. But that seems to be the case for the whole story. These sugar daddy type stories are always the exact same. Pay for company, not a relationship, fall in love anyways, breaks up so it doesn’t “get worse” or whatever, realize mistake, get back together. Every single time. Just in a different font.
Also, the sister plot line seemed so pointless? What did she bring to the story other than a olive branch during the third act breakup?

“She’d always imagined herself manning the guillotine during the revolution, not jerking off the ruling the class.”
“If the tech and finance bros, the “rise and grind” bootstrap-pullers, the self-declared “alphas,” could see their patron saint now, they’d be stunned by the sacrilege.”
went in for guy obsessed and femdom walking him like a dog but came out a bigger comrade than i initially was.

Sexy and captivating. It’s 50 Shades of Grey but inverted - and the chemistry between the two mains is OFF THE CHARTS.
WOOF.
AWOOGA.
(Mikhail on his knees…!)(sigh)(when will it be my turn)
I love the dynamic between Kate and Mikhail. I especially love the way he delights in taking her shopping, and I love the wish fulfillment fantasy of a big powerful business man with nothing but genuine desire for her happiness.
The message that “money can’t buy love” is a little on the nose, but damn, if I didn’t adore Kate standing up for herself at the climax.
Also the twin sister reconciliation subplot was fantastically written. This whole book is a gem. 5 stars.

I abhor financial domination and that was heavily present in this book. Yeah, Mikhail is filthy rich but it still wasn't Kate's money to spend. I liked that Mikhail was a good sub but took control when the situation required it- like when Kate got sick.

I need my own personal Mikhail. I finished this book in a day, because I couldn't stop reading. It was such an addicting book. If you like femdom or are wanting to try reading it, then this is a perfect book for you. Not only is the spice really good but the the conversations the two MCs have about wealth and the responsibility it comes with are really entertaining imo.
