This was amazing, not my usual read, but I loved it. It had me gripped throughout thinking about whether I believed Saul raped Saffie and what other secrets the characters may be hiding.

I could understand both Jules’ and Holly’s perspectives and of course you would believe your own child regardless, but sometimes I wanted to shake them with the comments or the attitudes towards each other. There was also so much more woven into this story than just the rape allegation, and it was fascinating learning more about the relationships between friends and families and how they were affected through the whole ordeal.

I will definitely be checking out other works by Penny Hancock, the way she writes is so moving and just generally realistic – I felt what the characters were feeling and I was going on the journey with them. I would recommend this to anyone.

Wow. Before this book I had never even heard of Penny Hancock. But oh how this book has led me to want to read more and more of hers! I devoured this book in less than a 24 hour span, because how her writing absolutely lures you in, is just unbelievable. The twists and turns and heartache in this psychological thriller keep you guessing til the end! 4 BIG stars for this awesome read!

This reading was surprisingly good. I had a great time reading it.

This kind of genre is definitely not my cup of tea, so it’s not like I have a huge background to compare it to, but it’s been a while since I book grabbed my attention so much.

The choice to have the story told by two different perspectives - but using both first and third person narrators - is quite interesting.

I believe the story was beautifully executed in a way that provides the reader a great number of hypothesis - which in my opinion was the best thing of it. I was “it’s obvious she being so reasonable” and then two pages later I was “she’s unbelievable, i wanna hit her with a car”.

With all that said, the outcome of the narrative didn’t keep up with the rest of the plot. The climax was less interesting than everything else and the “happy” ending did not keep up with the book’s tone.

3.5 stars - this book grew on me. I didn’t really like the middle. It seemed kind of slow and the characters did annoying things. But it ended up being more thought provoking in the end.
