Such a wonderful read. A whole lot because Colin gets a mate who happens to be a childhood friend who is a scientist and generally sees life in a very scientific type of way.

I don’t believe you need to read the first two books in order to read this one. It had mentioning’s of what happened, and I think knowing how it went down gave a little more content to what they were saying but it was also generic enough to allow for you not knowing, and though it could spoil a few things from the first books, not enough, in my opinion, that you couldn’t step your toe in now and backread.

I found the non-communication in this one a little harder to read. I understand where it came from, and why it was there. But it just became something that didn’t seem to be realistic to the character, or maybe the idea of both of them not really getting what was right in front of them. and yet it was these two best friends not talking to each other about, anything really, that drove me a little nuts. I felt for how they were to each other it was more words on the page then realism. I felt that thought processes, and misunderstandings that worked well for the first two books just didn’t sit the same way in this book.

I really enjoyed reading this. I find it hard to not continue once I started and liked that the storyline was isolated to them and their relationship, plus you can’t go wrong with outdoor sex with a side of knotting.

Hot

The sex was hot but the plot a little far fetched. However, I loved Colin and Newt. It took a bit to place this in the universe as I read the other books months ago, but it came back to me who Colin was.

Once again, this series is just fun. I liked the friends to lovers story between Newt and Colin. Their banter was entertaining, and the established emotions between them added a little extra something that was nice to see. The overarching conflict was a little disappointing, but it was interesting how it led to Newt and Colin "mating for science." It was nice to see Colin thriving despite all the previous conflicts from the first two books. It would have been nice to see some of the other characters in the series, other than just mentioning the pack war and an off handed comment about "the Armitage Shaman," aka Arik. But aside from all that, this was thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable.

Alright, this one might be my favorite of the series so far. We've lost the thread of "secret organization out to rule the world" but I don't even care. Who knew I had a weakness for friends to lovers? Not me. Newt's insecurities and deep conviction that he isn't enough hit so hard for me that I spent an embarrassing amount of this book with tears in my eyes. Love love love love this one.

re-read: this book still destroys me and I love it.

I gotta admit. This book wasn't my favorite of the series. I am not saying I disliked it, but I do think this book would have been better with a dual POV. Colin was the character we met before in previous books dealing with the evil Kimball Pack, yet we NEVER get his POV. The entire book is written in Newton's and to be honest sometimes he was just so whiney and I needed a break from his head. I also really would have liked being in Colin's mind for some of his more aggressive alpha moments. Nothings hotter than a possessive alpha wolf staking his claim on his mate. * fans self *

The book did not fall short on the steam. There was plenty of it and plenty of knotting to go around without it being too sex heavy. Though Colin and Newt have been best friends forever, they really sucked at communicating with words. There was not a lot of romance either, just a lot of Newton explaining away his body's reactions to his bestie. I would have liked to have read more of them actually being a couple or navigating being an Alpha mate since Colin is now the pack leader of the Kimball pack. It felt like a missed opportunity for the author to explore.

I'm still waiting for a Dor book, so I will be watching for the next book in the series.
