SURPRISINGLY good!

This should be a quick read, I just kept getting distracted. I read an old copy without another author's introduction, and had only heard about it in the context of its scientific merit. I did not know it was a satire of anything, though in hindsight I guess it should have been obvious. Very interesting read!

Pretty good. Since it was written in 1800s pretty well written for it's time.

Spoiler review:

Did not like that the square was able to see in 3 dimension when he was taken out of flatland. He'd still only be able to see in 2d slices of the 3d world and not be able to take in all at the same time. Since his brain would never have evolved to comprehend 3d.

I enjoyed this a lot, even though I really struggle with geometry. It's a lot of fun to read, a very clever and funny book that combines geometry and social satire.

This is a wildly absurdist commentary on how effective oppressive regimes stay in power by enforcing classist ideals and ignoring the truth. This 150 year old book is a timeless reminder on how easy it is to justify oppression when you have a closed mind. I laughed multiple times when listening to this, yet the content and and justifications for their society were horrific. Yet, you could feel the mirror being lifted up  forcing you to reflect upon our own society.

This was great, and I think I need to listen to it again to fully get it.
