This book helped me in ways I wasn’t expecting. I knew I have a weird relationship with grief and this book both helped me unpack that and get a better grasp on my day to day anxieties that I didn’t realize were related. I think this book could do everyone some good

Listened to Hoopla, read by the author. A friend of mine was dealing with grief and said he liked this book, so I added it my list. I'm not the target audience for this, as I'm not in a stage of grief right now in my life, but I have in the past. I kind of think the book is a little long for someone who might not have the energy to read/listen in a grieving state. All of it seems true, though. But not stuff I haven't already read in many blogs and posts online. Maybe it's nice to have it all in one place?

I found "It's Ok That You're Not Ok" by Megan Devine to be a compassionate and insightful exploration of grief. It feels very relatable to what I’m experiencing right now in my grief. Devine provides practical guidance and validation for navigating the complex emotions of loss and to honor our own unique grieving process. A must-read for anyone seeking understanding and support in times of sorrow.

The book mostly repeating the same points in different ways. Some of it was ok, but overall not that insightful. Also, the author used “crazy” as a descriptor so often, sometimes multiple times in a single paragraph. It’s disappointing that someone with a master’s in psychology cannot find another word to use.

While I enjoyed the message, I found many parts of this book to be very repetitive. I also liked the additions of excerpts from the writing on grief workshops. Overall, helpful for those who might be grappling with what to say (or what not to say) to someone who is grieving.

Megan Devine took an approach to grief that I found myself agreeing with throughout the entire book. The way she describes the feelings, reactions, and expectations were spot on. She helps readers recognize that their feelings are normal, and okay, as well as guiding them through interacting with others when grief is a factor. I borrowed this book from the library, and plan to purchase it for my personal collection. Reading it felt like a weight was lifted from my shoulders, because somebody finally understands.
