Ahh, Camp was a player only in theory! I saw NO sign of real player qualities! Especially after he met Brooke. She sure gave mixed signals for a long time! It was hard to read this one but all in all it was a quick, satisfying read!

I had a little trouble getting into this story at first. There was an immediate push and pull going on between Cam and Brooke that started to get a little frustrating. Then finally things started to fall in to place and it seemed as though they were actually going to give into their feelings and I couldn't get to that part quick enough.

I really enjoyed the banter and sexual tension they had going on and when they finally gave in it to it, it was a huge relief and I couldn't wait to see how things progressed from there. Then suddenly things weren't really progressing, they just happened. The relationship between Cam and Brooke felt a bit like it went from zero to ten in a matter of days (or pages if you will). One minute they were fighting their attraction and the next they were jumping headfirst into more.

They were both dealing with hurtful and heartbreaking pasts and Brooke was keeping a secret that could be a deal breaker, so I get the push and pull and the wanting to take it slow because they were both unsure. I guess I just would've liked to have read more about them while they were trying to wade through their doubts and fears and figuring out how to be together rather than having so much of the book surround them fighting the idea before it ever took root.

Aside from the change in pace of the story, I enjoyed this book for the close-knit family feel it gave and the sweet, sexy romance it was. I liked both Cam and Brooke and think that the author developed them nicely, even if Cam sometimes got a bad rep for being a player when I don't think that's what who was at all.

I won't hesitate to read more in this series. I'm actually really excited to read about Kelsey and Luke in the next book.

I enjoyed reading the Ribbon Ridge Series and hearing about all of the Archer kids and how they found love. I was interested in learning about Cam and his brothers as well. I love it when aurhors tell intertwining stories so that I feel immersed in a family and all of the stories around the family. It makes stories much more enjoyable.

DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

This is a spin off of the author's Ribbon Ridge series. While this book can stand alone, I found that it was enriched by having read the entire Ribbon Ridge series that preceded it, especially [b:You're Still the One|25900554|You're Still the One (Ribbon Ridge #6)|Darcy Burke|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1454283777s/25900554.jpg|45784354].

This story itself has me rather conflicted. On one hand, it was a quick and somewhat entertaining read, but on the other hand, it had me wanting to strangle the two main characters! They kept holding back their pasts, and it left them unable to really get a relationship going, especially since they worked together and were reluctant to do anything that jeopardized that dynamic. Yet, they both wanted to act on their attraction to one another and the starts and sudden stops on that front got quite annoying!

Everything came to a head in the last 30% of the book, and the resolution felt rather rushed. There was a lot of meddling going on and the main characters really didn't communicate well with each other. It made me feel as though the main focus of their relationship was the sexual aspect, even though they hadn't had one for much of the book. I also felt that the author missed an opportunity when it came to Brooke. Her previous Ribbon Ridge books were very emotional and enlightening reads for me, and yet when it came to Brooke and her situation, I felt very detached from it all. I felt she could have delved into greater depth about possible solutions to the situation and discussed more in depth about what Brooke had previously done to resolve it. It would have been somewhat educational as to what other women in that situation might go through, and instead it felt like the author hadn't wanted to do much research for this story.

I did enjoy the historical turn that this book took, and how we got to see more of the community/town, rather than just focusing on the Archer businesses and aspect of things. It made what I already knew really come alive. All things considered, I'd probably continue with the new series, but I'd hesitate on purchasing this book or subsequent ones.

So, this is the first book in a new series but also the seventh book in the Ribbon Ridge series. Although this could easily be read as a standalone, it was obvious that it was a follow on book to at least one previous book.

I felt that this book kept to-ing and fro-ing, and that was mainly due to Brooke - I wasn't a fan. Right from the start she vacillated and frankly wanted her cake and to eat it too.

Cam, his brother's and his best friend have set up a winery. Eight years ago his girlfriend (soon to be fiancée) brutally dumped him for a man with more money and made it clear that money was all she cared about. Since then he became known as a player with a girl in every town when he was a travelling wine salesman. However, since opening the winery eight months ago he has become a bit of a hermit.

Brooke is still smarting from her divorce a few years ago. Her husband cheated on her with someone from work whilst she was trying to come to terms with her inability to have children. Speaking as someone who is also unable to have children I found her self-pity and absorption tedious beyond measure- maybe I just didn't want children as badly as she did. Her fertility colours her entire life, she won't commit, won't date, won't envisage getting serious with a man.

Brooke gets a job marketing Cam's wine, although TBH we never really see or hear of her doing anything about it, the novel mainly takes place at various parties and functions to promote wine organised by Cam or other wineries. Cam flirts with Brooke and she blows hot and cold; flirting one minute then giving him the cold shoulder. They both agree for their professional relationship info should go no further - and then promptly go further in the toilets at a function!

I think overall I found this was written like a sweet, small town category romance with lots of sex scenes, which seemed odd, but my irritation with Brooke just made me want to tell her to Man Up.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I loved Cam and Brooke's journey. My heart broke for Brooke and everything that she was facing, but loved how Cam did all of the research that showed her all of the possibilities that they had.

Cam Westcott kicks off a new series. This Westcott brother is well-known, and not just by his family, for being a major player. But he's been concentrating more on work lately and is starting to back off the merry-go-round of women. So when he meets Brooke Ellis, a wine distributor, he doesn't want to be interested. But (and even though she says she doesn't want to date him), he decides to trick her into a date. Which is SO romantic (Nope).
Brooke has her own issues. And she knows Cameron's reputation. So she doesn't want to get involved. But she is feeling more and more drawn to Cam.
I quite frankly didn't get the attraction between these two. No, I got the attraction, I just didn't get why they would have an HEA. It was an okay book most of the way through but the last Big Misunderstanding really dropped it a full star for me.
