This would make a great movie.

Also, this would be a great read for a book club, as it has a lot of good discussion points. Trust, ethics, etc.

Sharing an older, not overly thought provoking, review since it's my hubs birthday, and he's a darling sometimes.

Whoa, that was intense! I was on the edge of my seat and the narrators were so good that I didn’t want to stop listening. I love when there are multiple point of views and narrators as it make the story feel more real to me. There was a nice twist in there and a crazy ending.
Definitely recommend this thriller.

This was the thriller I was waiting for. I devoured this one! Crime thrillers are slowly creeping up as a favorite of mine thanks to S.A. Cosby and this one had very similar vibes. The characters were fully formed & interesting which is hard to do with books that happen over a short span of time like this one. There is an cinematic aspect that allowed me to feel like I was watching a movie instead of reading a story. This was my first Belle book but certainly won't be my last.

My Darling Husband was an interesting domestic thriller. It is definitely suspenseful and I wanted to know what happened. This starts with Jade, mom of two, who finds a man in her garage when she pulls in with the kids. The man essentially holds her and her children hostage while he asks her husband for a strange number for ransom.

As we go through the day, we realize that this man isn't a stranger. This is purposeful and not everyone is as nice as they seem. There are some large parts of this where you have to suspend disbelief as well as some questions at the end that aren't fully answered. Overall, it was a decent, quick read, but nothing that will stick with me.

This book started out strong for me, but really petered out the farther along I got. I was excited at first, and on the edge of my seat because it's a story about a home invasion and so why is this happening and how is it going to end?! But it felt long and I wasn't all that invested in the characters stories.

Thank you to Harper-Collins for an advanced copy! All opinions my own.

Cam Lasky is the Steak King of Atlanta with multiple restaurants but he is having a bad day. It starts with a fire at one of his restaurants and ends with a race against time to gather enough money to free his wife and children from a home invasion. Jade Lasky is determined to do what it takes to keep her children alive until her husband pays the ransom but she has questions - why were they targeted? Will her husband make it in time?

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc for my honest review

PopSugar 2022 reading challenge #40

Where do I begin!?

Jade Lasky is living her best life -- she's a mom who gets to spend time with the kids, she's married to a successful chef with a series of chain restaurants that are doing well, and everything is perfect, including her marriage. But suddenly a masked invader has forced her and her two children into her home and is demanding a ridiculously specific ransom. Can her husband, Cam, even get this type of money in time -- all without involving the police or any other authorities?

Okay, so, you know the setup: either this is a random home invader that gets lucky OR this is someone with a grudge. Always go for the second one. Always. That is what made the book interesting for me: trying to figure out who the invader was, how did he know the family, what is the main goal here? And while I'm the type of person that says you cannot commit a crime to make a valid point about how this said family/certain family member(s) screwed you over... it makes for a compelling read!

Quick, one day audio-listen that was time well spent!
